Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is updated as per AICTE/UGC guidelines and also includes electives that allow students to explore their areas of interest. Exams are conducted regularly through mid-semester, end-semester and internal assessments. The exam level is moderate, and students can clear them with consistent study.
Internships Opportunities
Several reputable companies, spanning IT, core engineering, and other sectors, recruit interns from NIT Agartala, with notable names like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, L&T, and potentially even major players like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon for high-achieving students in branches like CSE, ECE, and EE. These internships encompass a wide array of roles, including technical assistant trainees, project associates in various departments like CSE, Electrical Engineering, and Bioengineering, and general industrial training positions, some of which may be fixed-period internships with consolidated remuneration, while others, particularly research internships, might focus on practical learning and project collaboration rather than a stipend.
Placement Experience
My college placement is good but in civil department it is less chance to be placed but still all branches are being placed if anyone student is not placed then there is a opportunity to be placed that off campus but most of the students get placed from the college but the maximum placement is got by a CSE student but being a mechanical branch student the average package is 8 lakhs and highest package is 25 lakh per annum .if anyone did not get placement from the college then he can opt off campus and also off campus student get a good placement.
Fees and Financial Aid
At NIT Agartala, the tuition fee for B.Tech students is 62,500 per semester for General and OBC category students, while SC/ST and PwD students are exempted from paying tuition fees. In addition, one-time charges such as admission fee (1,000) and institute development fee (around 10,000) are applicable at the time of joining. Other recurring charges like examination fee, library fee, student activity fee, and medical fee come to about 5,000 per semester. Hostel charges include a refundable caution deposit of 5,000 along with seat rent, electricity, water, and mess fees, which are paid semester-wise. The total cost for completing a four-year B.Tech program for General/OBC students is approximately 5.7 lakhs. Scholarship facilities such as merit-cum-means, post-matric scholarships, and top-class education schemes are available. Moreover, students with family income below 1 lakh per annum are eligible for a full tuition fee waiver, while those with income between 1–5 lakh per annum receive a two-third waiver on tuition fees.
Campus Life
Campus life of this college is extra ordinary, the road where we walk that is very good infrastructure wise and also there is one cricket ground, one football ground, one gym ,one table tennis court, one badminton court, one volleyball ground, one basketball court and one kabbadi ground.Social aspect of this college is also good because the guard who stands at the main door of Nit does not allow the out person so all the student who cracked jee mains and they have also a good knowledge because all students are educated so environment is good.all the club's are good and active but one of the famous and best club is business club. The Infrastructure is also good there is different different building for different different branch.
Hostel Facilities
You would detail the facilities provided in your room, such as the furniture (bed, study table, chair, wardrobe) and amenities like Wi-Fi and fan, noting the double occupancy for first and second-year students and single rooms for later years. often finding first-year mess food to be basic, with improvements in senior messes and options like the South Indian mess, alongside campus canteens like College Point or Spicy Hut offering diverse meals. The registration process for the hostel and its affordability would involve explaining the online MIS portal process for initial and semester fees, highlighting the initial fee of around Rs. 7000 and subsequent semester fees around Rs. 25,000-30,000, which are generally considered affordable, although girls from the home state might face limited availability.
Admission
I chose NIT Agartala mainly because it is an Institute of National Importance under MHRD and provides good academic exposure along with decent placement opportunities. I had also applied to other NITs and some state engineering colleges, but based on my JEE Main rank and cut-off trends, NIT Agartala was the best option available. The admission process was through JoSAA counseling, which is a transparent and centralized system for all NITs. The eligibility was based on JEE Main scores, followed by choice filling and seat allotment. The process was smooth, though the cutoff for core branches like CSE, ECE, and Mechanical was relatively high. Compared to private colleges, NIT Agartala offers a much better return on investment, lower fees, and the benefit of a strong alumni network
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is good and teachers are approachable, helpful and well qualified. Most of the professors have PhD degrees and they focus on both theory and practical knowledge. They maintain a friendly relationship with students and are supportive in clearing doubts. The course structure is updated as per industry needs and covers both core and elective subjects. Exams are conducted every semester with mid-semester and end-semester formats. The exam papers are moderate in difficulty and students can clear them with regular study. The marking scheme is fair and transparent, and internal assessments also help in improving grades. Overall, the curriculum is relevant and prepares students well for placements and higher studies.
Night Life
The nightlife for boys and girls are different.Girls entry is enclosed at 7:30 and boys is walking in NIT ground every time. But senior girls can travel till 8.30 pm and boys are easily walking at the night .
