Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is designed to teach the basic and fundamental subjects of computer science to students. In each subject, the difficulty level is below moderate. There are some subjects which meet the industry standards and prepare students for jobs in market. But many subjects are out-dated and their syllabus is not upto standard mark of industry requirements. There is an urgent need to update the syllabus and make it more industry demands-oriented. The teaching methods used are good but some updates can make them more better. Less focus is given on practical knowledge and labs. In each semester, you will have sessional exams two times for all 5 subjects. In each year, there are two semesters and in each semester you will havee final exams in the month of December and May.
Internships Opportunities
In this universsity, you will not get good internship opprtunities. You can't majorly depend on the institution for internship or placements. But some companies visits university for internships and placements but they offer average salary package of 3.5 lpa. The placement ratio in each batch is only 10-20%. In last semester you have to do internship in any IT company and you have to make a major project on any topic of your choice. This project will help you in job interviews.
Fees and Financial Aid
The annual fees for the course was Rs. 22640 per year including all charges. For SC students, the fee is onky Rs. 500. Backward class students can avail Post Matric Scholarship for BC students if they satisy the income criteria.
Campus Life
The overall experience in IGU Rewari was good but we can't say it best experience. In each year there is one annual fest and one science conclave. There are some other celebrations also on festivals like Teej, Diwali, Holi etc. The library was good and books qualtiy was also nice. You can also read any books in the reading hall. The classrooms were simple and doesn't have any facilities like smart board, projector or air-conditioners. But the labs were well equipped with latest PC's, projectors, WIFI and air-conditioners.
Admission
I applied in Delhi University, MDU Rohtak, Kurukshetra University and IGU rewari. I got confirmed admission in MDU, KUK and IGU. I prefer IGU because its location was more suitable for me and it was meeting all my requirements. I rejected MDU and KUK due to thier location and placements. In my university, admission is on entrance basis but sometimes if there are less number of application forms, then it is on merit basis. The eligibility for MCA course is Bachelors in any stream with compulsory Mathematics in all semesters. The overall admission process was easy and smooth. My dream college for MCA was Delhi university but unfortunately, I didn't admission there.
Faculty
In MCA course faculty to student ratio is approximate 55:1. The faculty and other administrative staff is very co-operative and supportive. They will help you in clarifying all your doubts. The best faculty in the CSE Department was Dr. Ajay Sir. His way of teaching is very good and also he is very supportive and very kind behaviour. In MCA, you have 4 semesters. For the first three semesters, you have 5 theory exams, 3 practicals and 1 self - study paper. In last semester, you have to submit a major project and qualify two NPTEL exams.
Night Life
I was a day scholar so I haven't experienced night-life in the campus. But as I have listened it from my hosteler friends, the night life was simple and no such fun activities. There were no gym inside the campus. There were 2 cafeterias inside the campus and their food quality and prices were justified. There are no such famous hangout places near campus. For any type of famous hangout place or fun-activities, you have to visit city Rewari which is 10KM away from campus. It is safe to roam around at night. But it is a village area so it is a silent area.
Other Applied Colleges
Maharshi Dayanand University - [MDU] | Master of Computer Applications [M.C.A]
Because placement was not good and hostel didn't met my expectations.
