What Students Say
Likes
- The campus and infrastructure is pretty decent. Its not that big but does the job pretty well.
- The crowd is actually not bad. Most folks are genuinely interested in tech and girl boy ratio is also very good.
- College is located at the heart of the city just next to knowledge park metro which makes it really easy to travel to college.
Dislikes
- Syllabus is pretty outdated but thats a university problem.
- Half the teachers are really dedicated and good. But half of them don't know how to teach.
- Sometimes they are very strict. Short attendance and bad performance are reported directly to your parents which puts unnecessary stress.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculam is outdated. We still learn about outdated technologies and methods which don't have any use in the modern industry. The frequency of exams is pretty good and the difficulty level is also normal. But the real headache is AKTU's infamous copy checking where they fail you even if you attempted the whole paper only to give you excellent marks when you get your copy rechecked.
Placement Experience
The placements of GCET are considered average to above average for a private college. The average usually looms around 5LPA. The highest CTC offered this year was 39 LPA by Autodesk. Around 70-80 percent students are placed every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for GCET is 115000 per year. It includes tuition fees and other charges. If you are from UP, the government provides a scholarship every year. Its around 50-60k. The college doesnt provide any scholarship. GCET is pretty affordable compared to its competitors. Other private aktu colleges which are actually decent have much higher fees.
Campus Life
GCET campus life is pretty underwhelming considering its mostly referred to as the party college. People come here expecting a bollywood like college life and are often disappointed by the academic pressure. We have clubs but there are phases when they are really active and then they slow down. But it's still much better than other aktu colleges. We have a lot of fests, clubs really work when they are active, you get to meet new people every day. The infra is pretty decent, not jaw dropping but enough to make you not complaint about it.
Admission
I also applied to its affiliated college galgotias university because I heard about horrors of aktu. But didn't opt for it because the crowd on gu is actually considered really bad. GCET gives admission through UPTAC counselling through aktu. You have to appear for JEE and secure a rank of at least 2 Lakhs if you're from UP and want top CS branches.
Faculty
The faculty members of gcet are below average at best. Most of the professors know their subjects but only half of them know how to teach it properly. We have 3 internal exams which are CAE 1 consisting of 2 chapters, CAE 2 consisting 2 chapters, and a PUT which has whole syllabus and happens just before the main external exam. Marking scheme of aktu is pretty bad and there are many instances of people getting a back and then it getting removed when they got thier copy rechecked.
Night Life
Greater Noida is considered to be a peaceful city. There is not much to do in the night as most of the city is asleep during the late hours. You can go to Delhi which isn't far. But during the evening and on holidays you can enjoy the city as it's very lively during the day. There are secret spots like the commercial belt which is active late night. But they are very limited and get closed if they get really crowded at night.
Other Applied Colleges
