Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is well structured and is divided across 10 semesters so that the students don't get overburdened. The three year llb gets hectic. That's why i chose this course. The curriculum includes moot courts and drafting which is very helpful for further pursuits in law. The mandatory presentation in each semester builds confidence. However, I'd suggest preparing students for moot courts by focussing more on the moot court society will further sharpen the eloquence of the students. The exams are conducted twice in a semester and are moderately difficult.

Internships Opportunities

3

There is moot court and internship committee that is a very new addition in the law faculty. It is moderately active and suggests internships from time to time. But mostly the students find and do internships on their own which can be both paid and unpaid. The stipend ranges from 1000- 5000 on an average.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fees is Rs. 61956. The cultural activity fees is Rs. 170, Student health facilities cost Rs. 350, Computer and Internet facilities cost Rs. 100, Almuni Activity Fund is Rs. 50, Training and Placement fee is Rs. 100, The Special Course Fee is Rs. 60000, Laminated ID card costs Rs. 26 and the Border Delegacy fee is Rs. 10.

Campus Life

4

There are annual fests called Spandan that is held around Saraswati Puja that is also the foundation day of BHU. A jhaanki is also organised by each faculty on the occassion of foundation day, it is worth watching. For selection in Spandan that is inter faculty competition, Srijan is held that is intra faculty competition. The Central library and the law Libraray is well equipped with books. The central library is Asia's biggest library so there is no need to doubt the range and accessibility of books there. The classrooms are equipped with lecture dias, a table, ample number of fans and anti echo walls. The classrooms are big. There are various clubs in the college like Mousiquee, the singing club, Taalasya, the dance club, Rhetorica, the debate club among many others to cater your extracurricular needs. There are various sports you can practice like basketball, kabaddi, table tennis, etc. The campus also offers a 2 playgrounds including the IIT gymkhana. There are couple of open gyms inside the campus too. Apart from Srijan and Spandan, various concerts are also held in the IIT in which students of any faculty can join by purchasing passes that cost 700-1000. There is student portal that helps students in easily accessing their marks, admit cards and knowing their attendance.

Admission

I applied in the Central University of South Bihar for the same course and got selected there too. The reason for choosing Banaras Hindu University over Central University of South Bihar was that CUSB was comparatively newer than BHU. BHU has a well established name in the field of law. Its location is also very spiritual and the people are very nice over here. The lush green and vast campus of BHU gives it edge of CUSB. Plus the faculty of BHU is definitely better than CUSB. The admission process is very simple. If you have cleared the cutoff then you have to pay the course fees. You'll be called for document verification, there will be induction programme and you're done.

Faculty

5

The faculty is very experienced and are highly approachable. You can ask relevant doubts and they will be more than willing to help you out. The classes run regularly. Each of the subjects have the best teachers. Its not about good or bad, its only the best. There are professors like Prof. K.S. Brijwal, Prof. A.K. Pandey, Prof. R.K. Murli who are one of the best in their fields. Their knowledge is very vast which helps students learn beyond what is written in the books. In a semester, there are midsems and end sems. Mid sems comprise of written test of 20 marks and presentation/assignment of 10 marks. The end sems are of 70 marks. If you have studied throughout the semester, then you won't have any difficultly in clearing the examination. Year backs are uncommon but 3-4 students get subject backs. The course curriculum is very relevant. The amendments are also taught by the teachers to keep the students up to date.

Interview Experience

4

Written test was thwre for the admission but there was not any interview. The written test was moderate to tough. I prepared from youtube channels for the exam. There are various paid courses available too though i prepared from the free ones.

Night Life

3

The nightlife is good but its not that safe for girls to walk around college after 10PM. The famous hangout places include the Vishwanath Temple which is a famous tourist place too. The cafeteria outside it offers delicious food at reasonable price. The cold coffee of VT is a must try. Apart from that there is a famous maggi point near health centre. There are cafeterias in the Madhuban park too.

Corporate Law is a subjects but no corporate placements as law firms were the sole contributors of our university. They gave as many placements as 30% students were placed and that too with very thin packages. So, university needs to fix this just like they have fixed every single thing at the campus.

Placements for Law are not comparable to the tech courses so far at GLA. Every year combining BBA LLB and BA LLB around 300 and I don't think even 100 are placed. So, GLA University will have to find a way to get atleast half the students find placements here and because I know my chances of getting placements are slim, I will be opting for doing LLM after I am done with LLB in 2027.

The college provide students with PDF lectures which focuses on personality development which includes confidence building, speaking and listening skills, etc. They also give tips for a better resume and how to give interview and prepare us for interviews by organising mock interviews. 5th year students are the focused students for the campus placement. Some students choose to be an advocate and others may prepare for higher studies and or prepare for judiciary and other civil services examinations. I personal preference to go for the one field which can open my ways for other field stoo.
