Course Curriculum Overview

4

Mathematics is an overarching subject and computer science is a hot area these days. The curriculum is very realistic and adaptive, encourages students to accept what is going on in the world. Attendance should not be mandatory and problem sheets should be given along with solutions. Frequency of mind term and end term exams is okay but quizzes club up around one or two days increasing stress.

Placement Experience

4

Students appear for placement exams in the beginning of their fourth B.Tech year. Many companies like MAANG, Optiver, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, Accenture, BCG visit the campus with number of offers ranging from single digit (say 2) to double digits (say 30). Highest package I am aware among my friends: 90 LPA, average: 15 LPA. 90% students get placements. I plan to do a corporate job after completing my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Year 1: Tuition fee: ?0 One time payment: ? 8150 Other charges: ?6250 Caution fee: ? 8000 Year 2: Examination fee: ?1500 Registration fee: ?750 Medical fee: ?750 Other charges: ?3350 Hostel rent: 8000 Mess fee: ?40000 Year 3: Examination fee: ?1500 Registration fee:?750 Medical fee: ?750 Other charges: ?3350 Hostel rent: ?8000 Mess fee: ?40000 Same as year 3 for year 4

Campus Life

4

Festivals include Rendezvous, Tryst, Becon, Kaizen, etc. Most of the relevant books are available in the library. Accessibility is sometimes an issue. Infrastructure quality is very high in the classrooms from the look to AC, projectors, WiFi, air quality maintenance, architecture, maintenance. Hockey, cricket, football, basketball, pool, table tennis, lawn tennis, squash, javelin throw are regular and many other sports are carried out occassionally. Extracurriculars include music, trips, etc. Many clubs are there like Physics and Astronomy club, Robotics club, XLR8 club, MathSoc, etc. Student portal include BSW, BSA which are very helpful for students consisting of resources for exams as well as general FAQs.

Hostel Facilities

4

1 cupboard, 1 table, 1 chair, 1 bed, 1 fan, 1 wall mirror, electricity, WiFi, LAN. Mess food is not good but acceptable, hygiene is an issue. I personally don't like mess food, menu quality has not increased during my stay. Registration process is hassle free. Hostel room is affordable but mess fee has risen significantly over the last 2 years by about ?10K.

Admission

IITD is an old IIT and has an entrepreneurial atmosphere making it my first choice.I applied for the some other colleges I am comparing with ahead. IIT Madras is good in research, IIT Roorkee is said to has an atmosphere for UPSC aspirants, IIT Bombay is a rounded college. Rank issues dictate which college to choose ultimately. Admission process is straightforward, first JoSAA counselling is there, then document verification, fee payment, hostel allotment, onboarding and other small formalities.

Faculty

4

Faculty to student ratio: about 150. Faculties are very approachable. Subrat Kar (very rational), Narayanan Kurur (very helpful), Ritumoni Sharma (approachable), Harish Kumar (realistic), Dalu Jacob (very good nature and explanations). Best is a context dependent term. Most exams are easy-moderate. About 10% students fail a course. Course curriculum is quite relevant in building a professional personality.

Night Life

4

Library is closed. Some shops in campus are specifically there for serving food need at night. Cafes are not open. Boys hostel and campus are 24x7. College interior is safe, locality is not that safe. Famous hangout places include biotech lawn, mech lawn, Amul.

Delhi Technological University - [DTU], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course curriculum at DTU is quite relevant and comprehensive. The reason I chose this course was the mix of strong fundamentals in the first year—like Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Programming—followed by department-specific core and elective courses that allow some flexibility and specialization. The curriculum gives a solid foundation for both real-world applications and further studies, especially through hands-on projects and lab work. That said, some areas could be improved, like including more industry exposure, internships, and practical case studies to bridge theory and real-world problems. Exams happen twice a semester (mid-terms and end-terms) and include assignments and projects as part of evaluation. While most exams are manageable if you keep up with the coursework, a few subjects can be challenging, and preparation is key to avoid surprises.

Placement Experience:

The annual placements at NIT Delhi are consistently getting better year by year where the top branches such as CSE, ECE, and IT are leading the way with their strong placement rates. Many students get hired at very attractive salaries by well-established companies like TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Microsoft, and Amazon. For example, the CTC of the best offers have reached as high as ?15–20 LPA in some instances. The Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical branches also contribute to the university’s overall placement record to some extent. Those students usually boost the available opportunities for themselves by taking up internships and off-campus offers. Moreover, the students who fail to get a job on the campus can still benefit out of the college atmosphere where the strong basics of coding, projects, and practical skills are taught which makes the students quite employable at startups, off-campus, or even when going for higher studies like M.Tech/GATE/abroad. To sum up, NIT Delhi is a very solid foundation for the students whether they want to have a career or continue with their education.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is relevant and comprehensive, with practical modules and industry-focused content that influenced my choice. It effectively bridges academic knowledge with real-world applications. However, adding more case studies and interdisciplinary approaches could enhance learning. Exams are well-timed but could better assess critical thinking. Teaching methods would benefit from integrating more interactive and hands-on sessions.
