Course Curriculum Overview

4

The accountancy aspect of this course influenced me to choose this particular course BCom Accountancy and Taxation. This course curriculum delves into a deep understanding of accountancy and in taxation. It makes us under how the tax system works and what is required for the business. They can implement more practical methods of teaching than more theoretical techniques. Frequency of examination is often but then written exams are not conducted much and only for mid and end sem.

Fees and Financial Aid

For BCom Accountancy and Taxation Tuition fee: 160000 For Karnataka board students: A scholarship of 20000 is offered. Total fee for Karnataka students: 140000 During starting of the course 5000 is taken as admission fees.

Campus Life

5

The overall experience with campus life is excellent. Christ is not only known for academics but also for the numerous events and programs conducted throughout each year. There are numerous clubs in each department and many clubs which inter department as well. Students actively take part in various clubs and participate regularly and win awards at both inter and intra college. Few main events of Christ are Darpan, Blossoms, Prayas- flagship event and main more. There are two huge libraries at Christ central campus

Admission

The other colleges I applied to were SJU and Jain University. But my first and only preference was Christ University. I chose this college over the other two because Christ is known as the top college for commerce in Bangalore. I didn't get rejected from other colleges because I never proceeded after application as I got into my dream university. The admission process in Christ is you have to apply for the course you are interested to pursue and write an enterance exam once you clear that you will be called for round two that is written assignment, interview and micro presentation.

Faculty

4

Faculties at Christ are very good and approachable at any time. Faculty and students have a good understanding. Few faculties are exceptional good and teach students in a way students are eager to learn. Few faculties are worse, they expect students to know everything and learn by themselves and least bothered about if the students understood or not. The faculties I liked are Naveen sir, Dinesh sir, Pooja Jain ma'am and Lakshmi ma'am.

Interview Experience

4

There was no GD but there was interview conducted. In the interview they asked me to introduce myself and they asked few questions relating to my course and why I chose Christ etc. And before all these I had to write an entrance exam which was conducted at Peenya. After that I had round two in college where I had a written assignment

Night Life

5

Night life in my campus is one of the best experiences in Christ. Christ is never empty there are people at all time from early morning till late evening. There are mainly cafeterias, libraries and public area where students can spend time when they don't have class or want to do some homework or projects. Collage hostel follows a strict timings and have curfew within 7:30 or 8 pm. Campus opens at 6 am and closes at 8 pm. Few hangout places inside the campus are birds park mingos, gazebo, kiosk and sky view. Outside campus are nexus mall, church street and Brigade Road etc.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester. Our college has a dedicated placement department that really guides and supports us through the whole process. Big companies like Deloitte and KPMG visit the campus every year, and since I’m doing B.Com + ACCA, there are plenty of great opportunities in finance and accounting. Last year, around 8 students from the B.Com batch got placed in finance roles. The average package was about ?6 LPA. The best part is that placements keep getting better every year, and the college has maintained a 100% placement record. They’ve even tied up with foreign companies, which opens up more global opportunities for us. After completing my degree, I plan to build a strong career in finance—hopefully starting with a reputed company like Deloitte or KPMG—and later explore opportunities abroad.

Placement Experience:

The college offers placement through the COC (Career Opportunities) cell. Students become eligible for placements by the 5th Semester. The companies which come to hire include the Big 4s, (KPMG, Delloite, EY and BCG), Fedral Bank,TCS, etc. Almost 70% of students opt for higher eduaction so the less number of students get placed at the UG level at least. I am personally figuring out which path to choose but I have placement in mind at the end of the degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My specific aspect of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the course is the ACCA along with Bcom. Most importantly the 9 paper exemptions provided that gives flexibility in the context of studying. The curriculum is well corporate and real world oriented. They prepare us on how to face the real corporate world through their curriculum by conducting different seminars and workshops.
