Entrance Preview

Cet 130/200. The mechanical engineering in Somaiya is famous because of projects going on. And that made me chose it and during the course I was a part of it and hence I really appreciate the decision I made back then.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Amazing, Specially after becoming an autonomous college. Now they can change anything they want which is. More practical rather than theoretical. Somaiya especially mechanical branch is famous for the same. I'd really recommend this college. Especially for engineers as its not top rated colleges Mumbai.

Internships Opportunities

No internships untill my year. However we have projects going on so there was any need for internships. Those projects were more than any internship which gave us not only team exposure but also enhanced leadership skills and thus we participated in international competition

Placement Experience

5

Being Placed at godrej and boyce. One of the best engineering placements college you'll ever find. It was somaiya that has enabled me. To start my career with such a great company at such a good pay. For middle class student like me with average academics this would be a dream job.

College Events

5

Symphony, impulse, abhiantriki and about 8-10 more to name. A very happening college to be in. However being engineering student we were always interested in the technical stuffs going around and riidl, somaiya own research section was a amazing platform to start with.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Expensive. But definitely worth it. It was expensive but the facilities like sports, health, libraries, workshops and all were better then any other college. Also the campus was worth the fee as it was a life time remembered place to be. In all it was 4lac for 4 years.

Fees and Financial Aid

None except the minority scholarship however that wasn't by the college. Never came across any such facilities.

Campus Life

1.5

Best college ever in extracurricular. Like I said the technical and non technical stuff a going around, everyone had something to do. Gender was ratio was say around 6/10 on a whole but still good as compared to other engineering collegescolleges. And there was never any discrimination on caste. So yeah.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

No non veg. So I'd rate 1/5. I had to go far to eat non veg. However the veg food wasn't good either. I personally hated the canteen and the food. The ambience of canteen was also not good and always too much noise. The food quality was however Maine Ted

Alumni/Alumna

Common mail server Is going on which is very useful for the students as well as the alumni. Also there are meets where the alumni are invited for interactions so that students undergoing studies may be benefited.

Exam Structure

Exams were a bit tedious but that's what you are prepared for coz life isn't easy either. Coz now in industries there are lot of bottlenecks for which we can tackle easily. However as a student, they are tedious and efforts had to be taken to clear it.

Faculty

2.5

Up to the mark. Although they were bounded by the education system, they helped and modified where ever they could to do things like an engineer and prepared us for the worst. Also some kept grudges but eventually the decision were always fair. Professors

The campus placement is decent in the college as compare to other colleges of the city . many companies visited the college every year to hire the skillful engineers from the college and offer them a good amount of package. The option of the offcampus palcement is also there for the students of the other colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Soo ever since kid i was interested in bikes this interest was all for me to take this course , my father is very bike enthusiast and it came down to me , i could easily take mechanical and other engineering cause these are common courses which involves automobile , but since i wanted to follow my passion , i wanted to do specialization in automobile itself and DPCOE was offering this course with great facilities and knowledge providing us a path in this lane of career in this field. According to me curriculum prepares us quite well as they conduct workshop which are relevant to outside world where we'll be working. If there were more practical workshops for us to work on would be great cause automobile engineering is all about practicals rather than theoroticals Professor should try teaching in physical part rather than taking lectures and explaining the concept by just words

Yes there is placement cell of STES which is no different than other tier 3 engineering colleges offering a tier 3 average package depending on who is the recruiter. Students become eligible for campus from 3rd year of their degree. Highest package is something around 55 lakhs offered to a computer engineering student, and average is just like I said for a tier 3 college 5-6 lakhs(above or below). Almost everyone gets placed in the company but some might not.
