Review according to a student's perspective

I chose this course because of it's importance in my upcoming entrances and job requirements. Although everything is taught well by the teachers but it need experience in this field for facing the real challenges. Studying is not only the main thing. Exams are taken periodically and the questions are mediocre to hard depending upon the syllabus.

College staff usually send various intership opportunities for the students which will be helpful to them. Although I have not applied to any.The links are circulated among students and they may do their interships.

Year wise fees for Bcom is usually around rs.5400 or something but last year they reduced it to rs.4090. No other fees is required atleast for Bcom students, for registeration it is rs.300 and centre fee is rs.250. Other departments like science normally pay around 10000 per yr and arts students pay somewhat less than that but if they have ration card registered than they have the facility of paying less than 1000rs. Mainly three scholarships are provided by the college which includes fees for books, mess for hostel students and for students who have no back subjects and all. For hostel it wasabout rs.8600 last year .

Every year festivals and functions are organised by the College and the students union of the college. There are lots of enjoyment for both the staffs and the students. Classrooms are not too bad . Maybe it needs technological advancements such as digital board, mic, and projector so that students can enjoy and study more effectively. Usually the students sitting in the back benches suffer due to non- visibility of the board and cannot properly hear the teachers. Every year there is annual sports week organised by the college and other than that many football matches or cricket matches are played by the students against other colleges. Many students clubs are there which includes ABVP which supports students and very helpful. There is no such case as ragging in the college.

Hostel has lots of facilities. Meals are mediocre but we usually get what most of the students would like to eat . Messing fees is rs2000 per month excluding the month of holiday. Yearly we pay 11000rs for re-admission . We can fill the registration form in the website once the admission is done in GC College. It is very near to the college and saves lots of time.

I didn't apply to any other colleges. I chose this College for its facilities and subject availability. Also, recommendation by my cousins as the best college in Silchar area. First we have to register in the assam University through online and then apply for the required college under assam University then there will be selection of students based on their percentage obtained from previous year.

Faculty to student ratio is not that bad. The teachers are usually approachable. Faculties of commerce and BBA department are very cooperative and helpful. There are mainly two exams in degree courses which is the unit test which is conducted by the college authority and the final semester exam by the assam University. However if there is any failure in those two exams , the exams are conducted again in order to make them pass. The final exams are usually not that easy but it is answerable most of the time. Maybe 1/4th of the students fail but usually most of the students pass.

Nightlife in this case is not there. If there is any programs organised by the college then we can go and join . Hostelers are allowed to go to the college if required. It is mostly safe at night as there is guards for the college.
