What Students Say
Likes
- The Alumini Network is mighty with the rich past of MNNIT and its reputation.
- The placements are fairly good, even in the times of recession the placement provided by the companies was amongst the highest in India
- Highly active tech clubs and decent daily life facilities such as mess food and hostel accomodation.
Dislikes
- The declining NIRF has led to lack of funds due to which the overall quality of the college is currently degrading when compared to its previous legacy
- Research and Lab facilities are far from being excellent. The college needs to step up and take serious actions in producing quality research work
Course Curriculum Overview
Course Curriculum is highly dependent on branch like it is very light for CSE department, very hectic for EE and ECE department almost similar situation for Mechanical. Exams are not very frequent like per semester there is one mid semester and end semester exams, along with it few quizzes are taken at random and assignments based on classwork is often given for internal evaluation. Prior to end semester exams practical exams are also held to for week to evavluate external evaluation for practical + theory subject. There are often Industrial visits arranged by institute for practical exposure to students for each branch that too depending upon students' interest. Summer internships are also part of curriculum in some branches for few credits in higher semesters.
Internships Opportunities
I have not yet been able to foster a intership opportunities but at the end of 2nd year we will be haing interviews offered by companies for internship. Companies that offer internship include Google, Microsoft, DE Shaw etc while talking of my domain which is core electronics companies like Texas Instruments, Micron technology, Qualcomm and Intel has offered internship.
Placement Experience
Placements are very good. Thne training and placement cell is very active and alert to provide the best opportunities to the aspiring students. The percentage of students getting placed is nearly 93 % for top 3 branches and nearly 85% for overall college. I aspire to join a semiconductor based company mainly hiring for Analog or Digital Dsign Engineer role.
Fees and Financial Aid
Per semester I am charged 56,400 Rs. by institute including 12,000 Rs.as Hostel Fees, 19,000 Rs. as Institute Fees, 2,400 Rs. additional for Extra Activity Course and 25,000 Mess Fees. For the whole year altogether I am charged Rs.1,12,800.
Campus Life
The Campus life is decent. The campus is not very vast and unevenly separated. Talikng of fun activities, like any other college it has got lot to offer. the tech clubs are supperb and consist of some of the top Aluminis of the college. The culturalclubs are not of my domain but have heard them to be doing good as well. The soprts club is not that great in all sports, like we are champs in atheletics but not that great cricket club.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels varies for every year. In 1st year students are provided a very good hostel accomodation which is three seater, while the quality of accomodation in 2nd year is average with fairly small double seater room. In third year onwards you get very good rooms. Food is almost similar for all years with slight increment in quality as the seniority progresses. However the overall experience is nice.
Admission
For my JEE Mains rank this was the best college to choose as I was adamant to take up my B.Tech in EE or ECE only as it was my dream department to work along. More of I wanted to take up ECE but could not get it till the last round of CSAB so settled with EE and now I am co-preparing the ECE curriculum to appear for desired electronics companies.
Faculty
Faculties are good and apprachable towards student with obvious exceptions which I feel could be found anywhere. Inspite of the growing software oriented culture the professors promot the students to take up core engineering as their future in advanced fields of work. many professors are open for research work along with the students who show their interest inspite of poor research and experimental setup. I am from Electrical Engineering Department, the professors in my department are, as per my experience, they are highly skilled and highly supportive.
Night Life
For females it is frustatiing to have an intime of 10 pm in the night from 2nd year onwards till final year. but for boys canyteens are open till 3 in the night. Libraries on usual days are upon upto 10 in the night but on exam days are open uptil 12 i n the night gyms are closed by 10 in the night too and open early in the morning.
