What Students Say
Likes
- The college has a very mediocre class rooms, but since this year smart class rooms are being developed which is equipped with large TV's, mics, speakers, projectors, etc.
- Our college also emphasie on sport activites and host 2-3 sports event every year.
- The effictiveness of placements is not very much, very few students are placed in companies which offer 12-15 LPA.
Dislikes
- In first year, there are many guest faculty teachers which have no idea of teaching. No proper notes or support material is provided by such teachers and the student has to look by himself.
- Even though the college promotes sports still we have a combined basketball court and badminton court and that to of smaller size than the standard court size.
Course Curriculum Overview
My father is in the civil dept. so, I wanted to do civil engg. and it has very less competition in comparision with other courses. Curriculum is pretty average considering our course. Our curriculum should definitely have more subjects which help us understand more practical stuff instead of a whole lot of theory. The frequency of the exams is also average considering the difficulty level. After the mid-semester exams stdents have max. 1.5 months to prepare for the final exams.
Internships Opportunities
Our college does offer internship opportunities, but because I am in first year so I can provide with the roles offered and the requied project tasks for the same. :( Otherwise the companies which offer job packages also offer internship opportunities to the students.
Placement Experience
Placements in our college isn't the best but it's better than colleges like DSEU,etc. Students from 3rd year become eligible for campus placements. Some of the companies that have visited our campus are- Atlassin, samsung, cisco, adobe, amazon, etc. The highest package was 1CPA and the average is about 17.75LPA. About 70-80% students get placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
Currently, I am in the first year so I pay Rs. 2,40,000 annually. I am not sure if the fee will increase in the coming years or not. I got very little aid due to my OBC quota for the admission, but there is not difference in any type of fee for our quote. There is no child from SC/ST quota in our class so I am not 100% sure if they are given any relaxation in fee. But, students are provided with student loans via the academic cell. Fee for every branch is same for the first year, i.e. Rs. 2,40,000. Our college provides very limited scholarships but students can avail loans and EMI's.
Campus Life
As this is still my first year in the college I don't have all the knowledge about the fests and all but our university hosts many great events like MOKSHA, annual and winter sport events, and many more. The range and accessibility of books in library is pretty good, students can find books related to all courses and subjects. Our university also has more than 70 societys which students can join, like Ecell, Debsoc, gaming societys etc.
Admission
I have applied for a lot of colleges incl. IPU, DTU, NIT, IIIT, etc. I simply didn't get the admission in all of them but out of the ones I got admission is NSUT was the best choice. I faced rejection from DTU,NIT,IIIT because I didn't got a top level rank in my JEE MAINS exam. As of the admission process, it was pretty smooth. It didn't took long, was hardly 3-4 visits and all set!
Faculty
As of now, faculties are very approachable but that is of no use until they don't teach properly in the class. No proper notes or support material is provided by the teachers. If any material is provided, it is 2-3 days before the exam. Our Maths, English and Strength of Materials teachers are pretty good as they make us understand the concept instead of just filling the board. The worst faculty member is our Surveying professor, Mr. K.L. Harne. He never talks politely to the students, cut their attendence for silly reasons, you get the idea.. For they exams, they are moderate to difficult. For subjects like English, CaD and EG, exams are of moderate difficulty but others are pretty difficult.
Interview Experience
There was nothing like a group discussion or an interview. We simply get admission after giving the JEE Mains exam. After that we need to go to the main centre to submit a few documents like our result, 10th and 12th marksheet, JEE admit card, birth certificate and a few more proofs. The criteria for admission is you need 85% in PCM in class 12th and need to clear the college's cutoff/rank for your desired branch.
Night Life
Our campus does not provide us with hostel facilities. However there are several flats and PG's in the proximity of the college which provides rooms(single and sharing) in affordable prices. As of hangout places there aren't many because it is situated in a countryside location.
Other Applied Colleges
MSIT | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
