Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course I am pursuing, automobile engineering focuses on both mechanical engineering as a whole as well as automotive engineering. The curriculum is well suited for the course. However, it lacks practicality is mostly theory based. Some professors do try to make it more practical but changes are needed. The frequency of exams is 2 every semester. The difficulty is not high if a students has been present in classes and practiced the guven assignments. However some subjects like basic electrical engineering are somewhat more difficult un which a lot of students struggle to pass.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college provides in campus internship opportunity known as USIP in which students work under professors and earn stipend. Many companies like microsoft, google, amazon, tcs offer internships to students which often result in PPOs. Roles include software engineers, technical support, data entry etc.

Placement Experience

4

Yes DTU offers placements. The students are eligible to sit for internship and placements from their pre final year. Highest package - 85 lakhs pa Average package - 15 lakhs pa 70+ companies visit DTU and 1500+ offers are made.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fees is 236700. Tuition fee - 147300 Student welfare fee - 20000 Facilities- 36000 Exam fee - 15000 Medical - 700 Ews fund - 10000 Fee for next year will be - 246700 Fee for year 2026-27 will be - 266700 DTU awards scholarships based on need as well as merit. Fee waiver is offered to students with good merit but lower income families.

Campus Life

5

Some of the biggest fests of DTU include - Engifest , esummit, yuvaan, invictus, ahvaan etc Engifest is the biggest cultural fest of dtu it is usually held in February. Esummit is the entrepreneurship summit of Dtu held in feb-march. Yuvaan is the film and literally fest organised in month of october. Ahvaan is the sports fest held in month of march. Invictus is the technical fest organised in February. The library has a large variety of books ranging from fictitious and non fiction novels to academic books. Projectors are available in all classrooms. Newly built academic block has better infrastructure. Lots of societies, clubs are there to make student's life more interesting.

Hostel Facilities

4

The newly built girls hostel is up to the mark. It has 11 floors, 21 rooms each floor, each room shared by 3 girls. It has AC ducts in every room which function throughout the year providing cool air during summers and blowers during winters. Beds, mattresses, study table, chair, cupboard is provided to everyone. Dustbin is common for the room. The menu of the mess is good however the quality can be improved. The 3 tier Ac hostel costs 72000 for 1 year. 34800 are the mess charges per year. Hostel allotment is done on the basis of distance of your home from the university. Outside delhi people get it easily however for delhi people it is a little difficult.

Admission

I had applied for BITS pilani but didn't get into it due to low score. I applied for DU Bsc course got a seat however i consider Btech a better option compared to Bsc. DTU considers JEE mains score/rank for admissions in Btech programs. The cutoff depends on reservation category as well as the state one is from. The cutoff is higher for general outside delhi students while significantly lower for reserved category delhi students.

Faculty

4

Overall my experience with the faculty was nice. There are some faculties who are difficult to deal with but most of them are pretty nice. Some of the faculties who are very well at teaching as well as friendly are OP verma (HoD ECE), Dhirendra Kumar (maths) etc. There are 2 exams every semester - the mid term exam and end term exam. Mid term exam is of 20/25 marks (practical/non practical) End term exam is of 40/50 marks (practical/ non practical) The rest of the marks are given through practical and internals.

Night Life

4

For girls hostel the in timing is 11 pm. Raj soin hall contains most of the food places, HIMs cafe, Raydee, mic mac, dosa plaza are some of the other food places. There are 2 gyms one for boys and one for girls. The locality around DTU is not well developed and not safe at night. The library closes at 10pm at night on weekdays and 5pm evening during weekends however it is open whole night during exams.

The placements percentage for top branches is around 80% and many big companies like Amazon, Uber, Google, Microsoft, etc. offer placements. After my degree I plan on securing a placement on the tech field.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course curriculum as **fairly comprehensive and reasonably relevant**, especially in terms of building a strong foundation in core engineering concepts. One of the factors that influenced my decision to choose this course was the **structured curriculum covering important fundamentals such as programming, data structures, mathematics, and core engineering subjects**, which are essential for both technical roles and higher studies. The curriculum provides a solid theoretical base and helps develop analytical thinking, but for real-world applications students often need to complement it with **projects, internships, coding practice, and self-learning**, since some topics are still taught in a more traditional or theoretical way. In terms of improvements, the curriculum could benefit from **more industry-oriented electives, practical assignments, updated lab work, and interactive teaching methods such as case studies or project-based learning**. The exam system typically includes **two major exams per semester — a mid-semester exam and an end-semester exam — along with internal assessments, quizzes, and assignments**. The exams are generally **moderate in difficulty**, and students who attend classes and prepare consistently are able to perform well, though the evaluation tends to focus more on conceptual understanding and written exams rather than purely practical skills.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really liked physics and applications of physics so chose mechanical engineering, as ut has a lot of application of physics directly can really see how things work not just ideally but actually Curriculum is really good besides getting assignments which noone takes seriously everyone just copies , there must be much more practical stuff so that everyone learns but we do get that in tech teams but not directly as a student in college. There must be practical teachings and proper guidance proper high level machineary must be there, industry visits must be there and internships in such companies must be encouraged There are 5 exams of 1.5 hour considered as mid sems and 6 exams of 3 hours considered as endsems

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really good, i was always intered in the Engineering perspective of cars, and I must say it tries to deliver but doesnt sicces that well, atleast till now. For example I was really interested to study IC Engines this semester, it was a 4 credit main course, but I got RGautam as a teacher and in lab there are just artificial small models which are cross-section of various engines scaled down. So I felt really bad As I said earlier, the exams are relatively easy.
