Course Curriculum Overview

4

In terms of relevance of life science to future prospects which is research, the course curriculum is very well designed which teaches from basic to making u ready for research internships in iit and foreign oppurtunities or phd.

Placement Experience

4

From pre final year of every course, students are eligible for on campus internships and from final year, we are eligible for campus placements The overall average placement of nit rourkela in 2023-24 was 1340000 And, life science hasnt seen much of placement since most go for higher research opportunities or they get placed in coaching institutes for min 3 lpa and max. 6 to 7 lpa Overally college had 90%+ placement but life science had only 3 offers last year which obviously is teacher at big neet coaching institute such as aakash, narayana, etc.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is absolutely good, with such a large campus, we have every kind of sports activity places, be it swimming, cricket stadium, football and hockey stadium, basketball and tennis courts, hotels, restaurants, every necessary shop For clubs, name a skill and u will find multiple clubs based on that, be it coding and technology clubs, debating, dancing, music, poetry, writing, designing, art, sports ,research, etc. Literally everything Even now multiple clubs are there which takes students to the village areas where they help poor people with education and make their day exciting.

Hostel Facilities

4

First year rooms are two seater room with 2 beds and 2 tables, little small, some chair(1-2) one big uncovered divided shelves and one upper big shelf If anyone has any medical condition,he can get a single seater room with prior notice. 4 meals a day in mess which arent that bad, are average. Hostels have become a bit costlier now but we are trying to make it little less and yeah, still they are quite affordable. You can rent coolers from second year.

Admission

This is the best college i was getting in tech sector But obviously it wasnt the best branch, i took life science just because it was nit rourkela. I applied in many private universities in bhubaneswar but the NIT tag made me chose this over anything else. The admission process thtrough josaa or csab is pretty well structured and is easy to learn and get it done in a day if your documents are well settled. After seat allotment, in NIT rourkela, in every process, u can receive help in the college. But tbh, the day of my joining was so tiring, those 6-7 hours wait in admission hall with parents and other students but was full of enjoyment on that day

Faculty

4

Like in every college, there are good(lenient) and some strict faculties, which obviously in first years, we dont see much difference, everyone is equally strict and lenient but seniors say the actual strictness of faculties is seen when we start our second year with our department courses. Most strict faculties which make the branch hard is electrical Life science is generally biology(as long as u r ready to study bio, u will score great) Faculty to student ratio is around 1:2 in life science department Faculties are good and you can approach them in any problems or situations where you will require their need

Night Life

5

Many spots in night including late night canteens, areas to hang out with friends or couple spots, everything is present in campus Restrictions for freshers are there in campus at night but coming to second sem, it isnt too much. Every hostel has their own gyms, and other indoor and some outdoor sports grounds The central library BPCL or biju pattnaik library
