Course Curriculum Overview

4

The academics here is really great. They focus much on clinical aspects rather than on non clinical. The SGDs( small group discussion) and SDLs( self Directed learning) are better approachable form to reach students here they make a small group of five students per teacher for the discussion and gives a topic for the discussion. One improvement I will suggest is to use animated videos more in lectures rather than written slides. Frequency and timings of exams are perfectly coordinated (somewhat frequency is more????) that gives a better time and pressure to revise the contents taught.

Internships Opportunities

5

Internship is provided by the college itself which is within the campus. students are posted in various departments wards and OPDs monthly for a total period of 1 year the total stipend is 30000 rupees.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee of Goa medical College is quite higher than the colleges in the north. The fee we have to deposit here is semester wise not year wise. Here is the detailed fee structure of it Admission fee:- 1800 Tuition fee(per semester):- 58000 Institutional fee:- 3200 Development fee(per semester):- 15000 So the grand total becomes 78000 per semester This fee is same for each category of all india quota students but it differs for sc/st candidates of state quota which is about 40000 per semester

Campus Life

4

Campus Life is a bit boring. There is quite low involvement of social life here Events do occurs here and named as plexus, carnivals and annual programs. Sports program are not kept much here so for sports this college is not yours The classrooms are well furnished and AC conditioned having projectors in each lecture hall.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel rooms are okay we are 3mates in the room here. They provided a bed, a chair, and a study table. The quality of food in the hostel mess sucks. There is no nutrition in that food. you can't eat that food more than 2-3 months. You even can't complete your dish you have taken. You can rent a pg in bambolim and santa cruz as some of friends have rented a pg.

Admission

The first college I had applied for is Armed forces medical College(AFMC) but I was declared physically unfit there after that as of my rank I look up upon various parameters of the colleges and finally applied for it. The parameters were - the college should be old (goa medical College is oldest medical College of Asia) - college should be reputed - Academics and facilities should be better etc

Faculty

4

Here there are a lot of faculties so there is a very high faculty to student ratio. The faculties here are very approachable and behaves like a friend mostly the PGs are great here they really help the students wherever and whenever they are in need. I personally really don't dislike any faculty almost every faculty is good for me, I don't know about others. Exams are quite tough to pass here ???? but the passing ratio is much higher only 4-5 students fail in finals remaining all get passed. There is much strictness for attendance here. Your attendance must be 75% in theory and 80% in practicals to appear for final exams.

Night Life

3

Inside the campus the nightlife is boring. You just have canteens to roam around but outside within some distances like 2-3km we have beaches so can go and enjoy. 7kms from the college is Panjim where you can also hangout to see casinos and all. The campus is opened 24×7 as hospital is inside but the hostels gets closed at 11pm so we have to come back till that time The locality is safe to roam around the night , public safety is well maintained here.
