Course Curriculum Overview

4

As the course computer science (AI and ML)was introduced in the last year, my batch is the first batch. I am following new curriculum and in this there will be internships in seventh semester and expecting that there will be no classroom classes in eighth semester.

Internships Opportunities

4

The companies like Infosys, IBM, RDC concrete , Forbes marshal, Tcs, Cognizant ,Orion etc offers job opportunities in my college. I my curriculum I have to complete project in the seventh semester or eighth semester.Internships programs are also provided by the college itself such as Summer internship program which helps students to expand their technical expertise and productivity.

Placement Experience

4

From 3rd year onwards, placement starts in my college. This year many students get placed in the companies like Infosys,IBM etc. Many offers are there and many seniors are getting placed with a decent package.Last year there were 175 offers.9LPA was the highest package of last year.I didn't decided my future plans. Now, I want a stable job after my btech. After that there are many options such entrance exams like SSB,UPSC or if you are interested in entrepreneurship, you can start a company.

Fees and Financial Aid

Hi everyone.I am Aardra M R and I am currently pursuing my btech degree in computer science (AI and ML) at college of engineering Chengannur.I really had a dream to pursue my degree in a government or a government aided college. So I am happy to be in my college. As I get a merit seat, I am currently paying 45000 per year. When you join the college for the first time you have to pay caution deposit 5000 and if you are claiming for hostel facility, then you have to pay 10000 extra. As you all know when we join as fresher, there will be some fees like registration fee,lab fee, uniform fee etc.I remember that I had paid around 39000 when I joined including caution deposits.Mu college has three types of seats such as merit, management and NRI.If you are eligible for the management seat, then your fee will be 75000 per year and for NRI fee will be 100000.You can apply for scholarship that you want.Office staffs are there to help you for applying the scholarships such as Paragati,Egrantz, National merit cum scholarship etc.I am not sure about the amount of scholarship.

Campus Life

4

There are tech event names Tharang and arts named as utsav. As this is a IHRD college, this arts and tech events are common to all IHRD colleges. College has a library which have all the reference books that we needed in our entire btech journey. You can refer them if you need.ID card is mandatory in library.Classrooms are very vast and and holds a lot of sunlight in daytime. Most of the classroom has projects and 2 borads.Black and white boards with 4 or 5 fans. So it very comfortable. There are many forms such as IEEE, Focs, IEDC, Tinkerhub and GDG.They conduct a lot of workshops and classes. You can also become the part of such forms which will helpbyou to explore, expand your connections and to improve yourself.

Hostel Facilities

4

In my room there are 5 members. We have a attached bathroom and room is a quite large one, with 2 fans.Food is also so good except breakfast.Menu is decided by the hostel girls.I am in the college's hostel. I had completed the registration when I joined my college. The hostel is near the college located in backside of the college. It will take only 5 minutes to reach the college.

Admission

I wanted the course computer science (AI and ML) which is a new course. This course was not introduced in the government colleges which was disappointing.New coursed were introduced in private colleges. That was not affordable for my family and I always want to be a part of government or government aided colleges. So that's why I opted this college.

Faculty

3

Most of the Faculties are of student's vibe.So you can approach them anytime and feel free to ask anything. I like my physics, chemistry computer faculties. There are 2 internal exams. You can score in the first internal exam compared to second internal exam.

Night Life

4

College has a gym, canteen, library and a lover's corner, basket ball courts and a small College has 3 girls hostels and one boys hostel.Girls have to be report at 6:30 pm everyday and boys 7:00 pm.There are many restaurants and bakeries andMahadeva temple near the college. Hangout spots are less when compared to other colleges. It is a very safe place. As it is center, police service will be available and you feel secure.

Placements are really good. Since college is related to ISRO maximum students with cgpa above than 7 are elligible for ISRO interviews and are selected based on their performance. Apart from ISRO many campanies like Texas Instruments, UTS, Mercedez , also come here for recruuitment. Many also opt for M.tech and MBA after graduation

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.

Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies - [KUFOS], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Food Technology)
Reviewed on May 11, 2024(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was never interested in engineering. I passed KEAM entrance exam. So my parents forced me to become an engineer. Since I was interested, I thought food technology might be a good branch in engineering. So I got admission in KUFOS through allotment. The course is actually good . In the 1st year, you study basic engineering, 2nd year onwards food related courses are taught. If you are a student who only have the intention to study you will find this college easy to adjust. They provide all facilities to study. There is no particular frequency for a semester. Even though academic calender is there for each batch it is not followed properly. In this college the course may last upto 4.5 years. Due to this reason the students ask the management to cut shot semester breaks so that they won't loose 1 year.

I only have postive thoughts about that campus. The campus helped me to remove my pre-occupations, inhibitions, fear etc. It gave a lot of memorable moments, large number of friends. The most special thing about the college is those memorable friendships with the faculties whos understand students very well.
