Course Curriculum Overview

4

I really like my course. As a Geography honours student, we learn GIS software which is something I love and it's a new skill that we learn.Geography is more of conceptual subject and we not only learn theroy but also go for sessions wherein we learn how to apply our knowledge and know more about real life problems and solutions.

Internships Opportunities

4

Colleges offer different internships. The University also provides internships and holds Job melas. The Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme(Part time and Full time ) is the most famous one. This pays 5.5 k per month to part time interns and 10k per month to full time interns( summer interns) . Similarly, colleges also offer paid and non- paid internships.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly course fee is 17080. There are many scholarships and financial aid provided by both the college as well as the University. Most scholarships cover the yearly college fee. Criteria for each scholarship varies: family income, 12th marks , semester results etc.

Campus Life

5

The college hosts variety of programs both cultural and academic. Each department holds it's own annual fest and workshops. College also organize various inter and intra College competitions( Quiz, dance, drama, essay writing, research paper presentation etc) Festivals like Durga Puja, Holi, Diwali, Onam etc are also celebrated.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostel mainly has 2 kinds of rooms: 2 people room and 4 people room. Almost 90% rooms are double occupancy. The room size is good enough. We also have Laundry wherein we can give 13 clothes per week. The mess food is nice. We have large and beautiful open space for playing, jogging, etc. We have to play around 27 thousands per semester for hostel including mess chargers. There are no acs in the room but we do have Ac in study room. We also have common rooms where we can go and study. They remain open 24x7 . We also have wifi facility. The hostel is given on the first come first serve basis. They also look at 1. CUET scores 2. Home distance from the college There are reservations for PWD students, st/ sc, obc etc categories. Seats also depend on the department of the students. Only 3- 4 seats are offered for each department. There are many PGs and Hostels nearby which charge 10 to 20 thousand per month depending on the facilities provided and locality of the place.

Admission

I chose Miranda House. It was my first preference and i got in. The reason why I chose Miranda are as follows: 1. The hostel fee is affordable and low 2. It's a girls college and my parents wanted a safe environment for me. 3. It was ranked no. 1( NIRF ranking) 4. Also, it was only of the few college which offered Geography. I also applied for other colleges like Hindu College and St. Stephen's but Miranda was my first preference due to it's fee structure and the reasons mentioned above

Faculty

5

My department teachers are super nice , intelligent and have good knowledge of their subject except for few. Most young professors are like our friends , they help us even in our personal problems. Senior professors are more professional. Apart from my department, Physics and Mathematics department have very good faculty.

Night Life

5

The college library remains open from 9 to 7:30 on week days and from 10 to 3 during weekends. The College canteen has variety of food options: Poha , Rajma Chawal, Chhole bhautre, noodles, french fries , snacks, juices, milk shakes etc. We also have Nescafe and PAM. They remain open till 5 during week days. Our hostel is curfew free . There's no specific time to go in or out of the hostel. We just need to sign in a register if we go out after 7:30 in the evening. There are few markets nearby and also the metro is just few minutes walk away.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the curriculum is decided by delhi university, economics wing and is followed by all the colleges of du, although few topic are often irrevelent which teachers tend to skip. i do feel that curriculum is pretty old and they should introduce new topic which are more related to reak=l world and give us real life experience not just bookish knowledge which is irelevent. they should also ask for students input related to their curriculum, teachers sometimes tedn to just do book reading. internal exmas are taken frequently and difficulty is 3 out of 5

Course Curriculum Overview:

It is a good course. I went for it mainly because I am preparing for UPSC CSE (pretty common around here). In that context the course is helpful, and also for those aiming to enter research, academia, museology, archaeology etc. However there are not many placement opportunities and for most it would be better to pursue masters later on. Teaching methods are inclusive, both english and hindi medium students can comfortably study. However both students and faculties have some complaints regarding the curriculum changes under NEP such as the sequence of courses in each sem.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course is rightly designed. Plus the teachers often suggest books that can be read from library regarding course topics. The library is very nice here. I used to study in the library for long hours. The exam notes and everything is available at the photocopy shop that's inside the college. Writing this review really made me miss the college more

Placements definitely stands out as passive placement cell of the college is too good. They are quite aggressive and keep attacking us with getting ready for placements. As top corporate house like Big 4 and top Indian conglomerate also comes to our college for placements.

Initially i took this course beacuse i filled it as a backup for coming into delhi university but now i can say that the course is very interesting and it is practically applicable in daily life. Tho the theory exams are quite difficult and subjects like advance mme where max students fail exist but then also it is doable and has market value

Placement Experience:

The college has a placement cell which comes up with lots and lots of internship and job offers throughout the year, you get multiple new job opportunities every week but the campus placement is not all that great, B Com courses have somewhat decent placements. the college doesn't push very much or try much to get students placed, you're on your own.

Placement Experience:

Generally, after BA no one is placed and even if we apply for a job we don't get a good package. So, students generally go for masters or some other courses through which they can get placements. Talking of college placement and internship cell we don't have very good facilities as very limited companies are there for recruiting students. Many students don't even get the internship. This is a major negative point of college.
