Course Curriculum Overview

3

In 1st year we actually study the basics from each and every department, which helps the students to understand the knowledge in the other fields. And from 2nd year we dive deep into our core department courses. All the question papers include real-time applications and problems. Some teachers teach using ppts but some prefer chalk-talk method. I think we can shift to ppt-based method (for most of the classes). I think their should be a range for that like 70% using ppt's and explaintion, animations videos and 30% using chalk-talk method to solve problems.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internships can be done from 3rd year (5th sem) as far i know. But we can apply for internships previous to that also but it will be off-campus. By college we get internship oppertunities in 3rd year. Most of the students get internships from their class.

Placement Experience

5

As I am still in 1st year I dont know all the details regarding placements . From seniors and from google i got to know that the placement is very good and year by year more number of companies are coming to campus. I think from 7th semester we will be eligible for campus placements. Percentage of students getting palced is more than 90 (some department close to 90) as the rest students may purse higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

We have semester wise fee structure. My parents income is less than 1Lakh so i dont need to pay Tution fees. Apart from that we have one time fees like Institute Admission fee, Security Deposity (refundable), NITK Alma Mater Endowment, Convocation fee. We also give Development fees for 1st and 2nd sem only (1st year only). Some of the fees like Career Development fee, Health Care Facility, Students Activities Fees, Campus Amenties, Group Insurance Coverage of Students are to paid only for odd-sems.And apart from than we have mess fee, hostel fee and library resourse fee to paid for every sem.For scholarships students can actually check int the nitk website. If a students family income is less than 1LPA are eligible to get full remission on tution fees, and if it is between 1LPA-5LPA 60% of fee will be removed(they need to pay only 40% of tution fee).

Campus Life

5

Campus life is the best part in a Student life (during eduction phase in college). There are soo many clubs in each and every asspect. We have 2 big fests per year, One is INCIDENT - Asia's 2nd largest cultural fest, happens during March. One more is Enginner- Annual Technical fest which takes place mostly in the month of september/October. We have 2 libraries inside the campus. One is central library, where we can issue books for reading and the another is e-library where we can acces many things like group diccussion room, cafiteria and study room, etc. In each and every class we have Projectors for teaching. Our campus has 2 sports building (Old and New Sports Complex), Basketball court, Volleyball court, Tennis court, One standard football ground and crikect ground.

Hostel Facilities

4

This is the 1st time hostel experience for me and it is really good (for which i excpected). For 1st year students 2 hostel are triple sharing and one is double sharing. In each hostel we have 1 studing table, one cabinet to keep books and other stuffs and one almare for each student and one common shoe rack per room. Mess food is moderate, the quality is sometimes low(does happen everytime) but we got so much variety of food available. For registration process for hostel and mess we can do it on reporting day itself.

Admission

We got here through JEE Mains exams. After the cutfoffs are released by JOSSA i got a seat in NITK, Mechanical Engineering. I prefered this college because of the campus (private beach), placements statuts, and seniors recommondation. After seat allotment from Jossa we get a reporting period. On that day we can complete the Admission Process. On my reporting day many seniors ( mostly from 2nd year) helped me and other students, so the process went smooth.

Faculty

4

We have major 4 exams in one sem. 2 Quizzes, one mid-sem, one end-sem. The scaled weightage for end-sem is the highest and the comes mid-sem and finally quizzes. For some courses we also have Assigments, Group Activities, etc (it also depends on the faculty of the on-going course). Exams levels are from moderate to tough. The number of students who fail from per class is actually very less ( may be less than 6-7 per class). Faculties are very helpful and caring. All the faculities completed their PHD or Higher studies form a well known standard college.

Interview Experience

5

No we didnt face any Group Discussuons, Interview or Written Test for the addmision process separtely. Just one Jee main exam and as per cutoff we get the seat. Admisiion processs on reporting day is very easy, jst need to varify some documents.

Night Life

5

Night-time is the best time in the day, We xan just ave a walk arround campus to get relief. Wlking under beautiful lights to change your mood is the kind of experience you have to enjoy in College. We got 2 gyms, many cafeterias inside the campus. Hostel timings varry for different year students ( in 1st sem we had upto 7pm, 2nd sem first it was 9pm and then later changed to 11pm and in 3rd and 4th sem it will be 1am (mid-night) and for later semesters we dont have block timimgs. We have beach which is the best hangout for all peoples, and also Suprabha (Cafeteria) for chilling. Outside College we nearist city is Manglore we can explore that and many small town got beautifuly places whenever we are free we just go and explore.
