Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum that AEC as an institution follows can actually be modified and modernised as we are learning things that are very old and the knowledge on introduction of modern technology needs to be implied. Nevertheless AEC prepares its students with the core and fundamental knowledge of engineering that he or she would need in the future

Internships Opportunities

5

The college provides different internship programs at different semesters. After the second semester students have to engage in social internships and after the 4th semester students can even apply for different projects which will reflect in their CVs and after the 6th semester students can do industrial internships with PSU organisations like NRL SAIL STEEL etc

Placement Experience

5

AEC provides good campus placement to it's students and surprisingly not only to the computer science department. In all reality the students in the core branches get better placements than CS branch with packages starting from 6LPA to even 25LPA

Fees and Financial Aid

tution fee is 25000 per year and a development fee of 5000 is charged anually. examination fee is 1500 per semester and the hostel fee is 10000 per year and financial aid of different schemes and monitory values are provided to the students that need them

Campus Life

5

AEC was established way back in 1955 so the buildings and hostels are quite old but well maintained so there is no real problem. New infrastructures are also being built recently. There are numerous clubs which students can join to identify their latent talent.

Hostel Facilities

4

In the hostels the rooms are provided with a fan 2 single beds a table a chair and an almirah that the two people who will be residing in it will have to share. The quality of the food depends on the inspection of the students who will decide the menu and collection of mess dues which is not much and is quite affordable

Admission

I had tried getting into IITs or NITs but being in the general caste i couldn't meet the cutoff criteria but I aced the Combined Entrance Examination which is required to get into prestigious colleges of the North East like AEC, JEC etc.

Faculty

5

The faculty to student ratio is actually good, AEC has a very vast number of faculty available and they all of highly competent and knowledgeable in their respective fields of expertise. Exams are held regularly including class tests and the usual End semester exam

Interview Experience

5

Yes we have to appear the Combined Entrance Examination and score the required rank to sit in the counselling process after which the college and branch is provided to the students based on their ranks and preferred branches

Night Life

5

The college comprises of huge land area which includes libraries, restaurants, cafes, shops, gym, etc which can be easily accessible by the students during any time of the day as the locality is mostly comprised of the students living in the hostels.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not really good in our college, it is more of a research institute so it mainly focuses on PhD as PhD strength is good. Higher education is more prefered here but placement scenario is also good

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There exists a good teaching staff that's why the course is very easy to understand also teachers give us good examples also do practicals so that's students understand the course easily . I see that there exist a low no of equipments in practical lab compare to it's students ratio so if they have a good no of equipments then all students get equipment to do experiment without any waste of time . Time is good as compare to marks and the first 30 marks are beginner level the other 40 marks are intermediate level and the remaining 30 Marks are advanced level questions in a question paper for the students they published.

I choosed because my CEE marks which was 92 at that time was not enough to get admission in govt engineering colleges and the OBC cut off was 120+. So, in Whole northeast Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology is the no 1 and the oldest private engineering college and I decided to take admission there.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
