Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is good and it somewhere covers interests of wide number of students. Some students may be particularly interested in knowing about the current global superpower's history -USA whereas some may be interested in knowing how humans evolved or about the civilisations worldwide. Since I am in the first year, there isn't much I have explored yet but the course overall is good. I do also like the teaching methods of the teachers and we also have movie sessions for the topics included in the syllabus. The semester system exists in the college. One negative is that the classes are back-to-back without any specified lunch break.

Placement Experience

4

The placements of the college are fairly nice in accordance with other colleges but the fact that history has an average package of 7-8 lakhs is due to the demand of the course. It slightly low but according to the demand of the course and other colleges, this is a fairly nice offer. However, packages may go as high as 10-12 lakhs. The package is high for commerce courses and they go very high. Highest bagged college placement was 35+ lakhs per annum by a commerce student.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees for my course in my college - HINDU COLLEGE is 26.8k per annum. The fees does not include hostel fees but includes all the benefits which a college provides and also other charges a college may take. The negative thing about the fee is that it is constantly increasing year by year. This year also it increased by 1k. There are various scholarships offered but one of the most significant scholarships is the Raj Bhargava Scholarship which provided 4 students with 75 thousand per year for 3 years along with a laptop and bag. Another student gets a cash prize of 1 lakh rupees. The selection happens on a 3-round basis. It is exclusively for social sciences students and history students get an upper hand in this as the alumni providing this scholarship belonged to history department. 2 of these 4 scholarships are just for history.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is absolutely amazing and very happening. You can never get bored in the college as something or the other is always happening in the college. Either there is some speaker's session or an event or some games or some performances going on all the times. The college offers many societies as well which can be seen performing or rehearsing. Western music soc, classesical music soc, western dance soc, classical dance soc, drama soc, arts and painting soc, Muns and group discussion soc, Hindi debsoc, English debsoc, women development soc, LGBTQ and it's supporters' soc to name a few.

Admission

Firstly, this college is the NIRF RANKING 1 in 2024, so ofcourse it was a dream college of many and just not many. If I talk about the university - DU, it was manageable for me to commute daily if I took admission to DU and therefore another reason was it's location. This college is also a co-ed college due to which I preferred it over the neck-to-neck competed college Miranda House which is an all girl's college. We faced CUET exam for availing admission into the university and it was purely on the basis of merit and no group discussion or personal interview was held.

Faculty

5

The faculty members are amazing. They are lenient and friendly according to the news of the hour. If we need breaks or if they are back to back classes or even if there is any event going on, they delay/leave early/cancel the classes accordingly. History has just one section per batch so the teacher student ratio varies from 1:70 or 1:60. The good things about the HINDU COLLEGE,DU is that no one fails in the University exams from the college. It is very rarely observed that anyone fails to clear university exams from the college. All the core teachers are fairly good so there is no particular disliking for any. A few teachers I have studied from are - Shankar sir(ANCIENT INDIA HISTORY), Saurabh sir(SOCIAL FORMATIONS), Archana ma'am(USA HISTORY), Ratan Lal sir(ANCIENT INDIA HISTORY).

Interview Experience

5

We faced a CUET Exam which is for all the central universities. It was an offline exam. It was of 800 marks total and the admission was purely on the basis of merit. We had to select 12th class' subjects for giving the cuet exam. It was different for various subjects and each subject was of 200 marks

Night Life

2

There is limited night life in the college campus and the college is strict about the 9-5 timings and mostly everything starts closing after 5 pm unless there is some event going on. The fests happen once a year and society and departmental fests are different than the annual fest. The fests on the occassions such as Diwali and Holi also happens. However, the hostlers do enjoy a peaceful time around the campus at night and have fun and they also have seperate functions on festivals. The night life outside the college is still there and since it is located in north campus of DU where the area is covered with more than 10 colleges, it is much safer as compared to rest of Delhi. The college does also have silent and peaceful hangout spots which one may like to explore.

The course offers deep insight into India's political workings and institutions. Course Curriculum Overview:

Okay, so basically I read this highly course curriculum is best in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness students are also interested in all subject specific aspects of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose this course or it has good education system. Teachers are highly qualified and preparing system is also very good. They teach every good aspect of the subject and try to understand us. There is less improvement areas but one improvement it needs is the presence of insurance are a bit less presence at the time of exam so they have to check it. The frequency and time of exams are a little bit fast but it is minimal and it keeps 3 hours away exam which is very good

Placement Experience:

Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the third semester. Some of the reputed companies that visit our campus are Disha, KPMG, grand Thornton, et cetera. I think the highest package was 24 lakhs per annum and the average package is nine lakh Since a lot of students from our college do not typically go for placements. The percentage of students getting placement is relatively low and my plans after the degree are to find a job and pursue my masters after it.
