Remarks

Positive that the college is located in an urban area and everything is close by. Also its a well reputed college. Negative remark is that there is a lot of Punjabi Sikh influence and it can not be considered a cosmopolitan college

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Not good and not updated. Its like all other engineering colleges in the country. Nothing special and less practical work. Most of the time is consumed in exams only. Not much changes in curriculum with the time.

Internships Opportunities

Yes there is a criteria to do one semester as internship usually the last semester. College though does not assist much in finding the internships, so student has to do that predominantly on his own.

Placement Experience

2.5

Not very good. Only a few get proper placements. Rest have to struggle to get jobs on their own. Mostly IT companies pop in for placements and there are very few core companies that come for placements.

College Events

3

Cultural fest and annual sports event are 2 major events. These 2 include participation from a lot of other colleges as well. Other than this there is an annual college fest as well conducted every year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Its expensive than government colleges but less expensive than many private colleges. The total course fee is around 5 lacs and hostel fee for 4 years is around 2 lacs. So its feasible and most parents can afford it.

Fees and Financial Aid

They only consider scholarships offered by DAV societies. Not many scholarships other than this. Education loans can be easily availed from any bank and they accept it. College does not offer any loan facilities.

Campus Life

3

There are labs in every department. One common grass play ground kind of football ground. One basketball court and one lawn tennis court. Also there is an auditorium with good sound system and ample seating capacity.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel rooms are fine. Rooms are single double and triple sharing. There are rooms with and without ACs and cost is accordingly. Food is not upto the standard though and one doesnt even get non veg food

Alumni/Alumna

The college has an alumni network and the alumni meets are conducted as well every year. Senior students can be easily contacted and they are quite helpful as well. Some senior students have also helped in getting internships

Exam Structure

every semester there are 2 internal exams and one final. 40% marks are for practicals and 60% for theory. If a student fails in any exam, then he/she get a chance to file a re checking. If they still fail, then they can give that exam in next semester

Admission

The admission process is based on entrance exams. Also they take into account your 10th and 10+2 marks. Plus if there are some sports or extra curricular achievements then thats an added advantage. In my case I get admission based on my entrance exam score

Faculty

2.5

The top faculty is fine but down the hierarchy, the quality decreases. Fresher faculty is mostly M.Tech with not much experience. There are quite a few PhDs and doctorates. The quality of faculty definitely needs to improve.

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
