Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is old as the new advancements in technolgy everyday so real world application is 0 but since it's a National Institute of Technolgy so students catch-up to the fresh and new courses on their own. The areas of improvement is the full course and can include a lot about AI/ML. The upgrade in teaching methods could be inviting relevant Industry Leaders for workshops. There's 2 types of exams both are subjective which are Mid Semester and End Semster Exams. Both are easy to score and difficulty is 4/5.

Internships Opportunities

5

The Internship opportunities are great and almost everyone gets a Job. I didn’t opt for college internship or placement but offcampus just because that suited me for my personal endeavours but applying as an NIT student gives an advantage when applying off-campus. I interned at Wobot Technologies as C++ developer

Placement Experience

4

The students become eligible for placements when they start final year. On an average there's more than 100 companies that come for placements and they almost hire 90% of the batch. The highest package I have heard was 30LPA for software engineering role.

Fees and Financial Aid

My fee for the first year was almost 2 lakhs for general category and for other categories it was 50 thousand, 50thousand and 1lakh for SC, ST and OBC respectively. There are a lot of scholarships like Economically Weaker Section and sports etc.

Campus Life

5

The best part about NIT Hamirpur is the campus life as there’s always something fun going on. We have 2 festivals in our college one is Technical called NIMBUS and the other is cultural that is Hillffair. There's sporting fests too and honeslty sports infrastructure is also very good. We also have clubs and technical socities and social groups that work together to make all these fests amazing and fun. In the old classrooms it lacks mobile and laptop charging infrastructure but the new classrooms are comparable to best in class.

Hostel Facilities

4

The Hostel is not the best but it's alright we have wifi, bed and desk provided. The food is alright it's actually better than most of the people have told me from other colleges. The registration process is very basic you just fill a form and affordable. The only problem some people may find is that we only get personal room in final year and before that you share rooms with 3 people.

Admission

I chose NIT Hamirpur over other collegs because of less fees and this was the most reputed college i could get into at that time. I didn’t get rejections but I wanted to go to IIT's or a better NIT's if I had a chance but I am happy with NITH degree. The admission process is very simple that is throught JEE MAINS exam and if you get 80-95% in JEE MAINS, congratulations you will get amdission in atleast 1 of the branches but for CSE you will need 96-98%.

Faculty

3

The faculty are approchable but in class they are just trying to finish syllabus for themselves and not much keen on explaining the concept just reading out course materilal. The faculty to student ratio is 1 faculty to 10 students. The course structure is that there are 8 semesters and each semester we have an average of 5 subjects and 2 labs. Each semester we have 2 subjective exams Mid Semester(30 marks) and End Semester(50) and we have 20 marks as internals which the professor decides.

Night Life

5

The nightlife in the campus is not much but you can be outside the hostels till 9:30pm but if you are in clubs and socities then you will get extensions and you can be in the cub with your friends and basically the whole college till 12. Outside the college there’s always something going on so you can get an outpass and can grab drinks at a bar or the liquor shop and enjoy with friends. There’s a really great cafe just outside NIT Hamirpur called TDF and that is where everyone hangout daily after classes.

After fifth semester you are eligible for campus placements. IBM, Cognizant, Algo8, Polaris and CITRIX and over 5000 offers are made. Highest package 42 lpa in CSE program by Algo8 and average package of CSE program is 5 lpa and for MBA is 7.5 lpa. percentage of students getting placements is 45%. My plan after getting degree is make your skill more better and good for my dream companies like google, amazon and microsoft and crack their interviews.

Students can sit for job drives from the 7th term. In our college, firms like TCS, Wipro, HCL, Infosys, and Tech Mahindra visit. Most jobs are in coding, support, or test fields. The top pay was around ?10 LPA for a dev job. The usual pay is 3–4 LPA for most jobs. Nearly 60–70% of CS/IT students get jobs. Core jobs are less for other fields. My goal is to work for 1–2 years in tech and then go for higher study or skill-based role in top firm or startup.
