Course Curriculum Overview

3

The technicalities was the factor that urged me into this course. While there are no placement or internship programmes , it is a big downside for getting a job. Course is compact, sometimes a bit lengthy. Distribution of syllabus is a factor that should be looked upon. There are exams every 4-5 months , jnternals and semester exams.

Fees and Financial Aid

Each semester fees is around 6400 INR , so in total 3 years of graduation, you will be paying around 50000-54000 INR. This includes everything like tution fee , caution fee , developement fee , everything. During admission, first year (i.e 2 semesters) fees are taken at once. Management quota fees are quite high , in the range of 50000-60000 INR during admission. Rest is same. No discount for SC,ST,etc. Subjects that include laboratory like physics, chemistry, microbiology, computer science, etc, their fees are like 12000-22000 per semester. College do not provide any type of financial aid. Only scholarship that is provided by the government is applicable.

Campus Life

5

We didn't had any fests. But their were cultural events like Diwali, sarswati puja , holi , etc. There are departmental libraries , also a different building for library, membership is free. Sports, picnic occur once a year . There are no student run social group, however the student union is pretty helpful.

Admission

I applied only in Asutosh College, in Computer science course and mathematics. I got listed for Computer science also but chose mathematics for the liking . You need a score of around 88-95 % in your Higher secondary for getting admission. Just need to apply in the university 's portal or college portal , and apply courses from there.

Faculty

5

There are like 5-9 teachers in each department of courses. Labs are available for necessary subjects , and the teachers are pretty helpful all together. Mathematics faculty has like 7 professors while there are 6 in chemistry. It varies. Physics and mathematics faculty are quite strict, but helpful also. There are like semester exams for the university, and there are internal examinations of 15-25 marks within the college , where the difficultly is pretty easy .

Night Life

4

There is a gym with 50INR membership. It's alright, nothing special. No cafes. There are hostels in and around the campus, both female and male. Student will enjoy the canteen space, the outside space, also behind the college where there is tea stall. There is also big auditorium.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

The Physical Chemistry faculties are the best I got, that influenced me to carry forward my research carrier in Physical Chemistry. The curriculum for the Physical and Inorganic chemistry are upto the mark and I felt improvement in teaching style and curriculum is required for Organic Chemistry part. The difficulty of Internal examination can be improved a bit.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
