Remarks

Summing up, my stint at BITS Pilani was amazingly fruitful and I urge you to join the program if you are looking for a B School with excellent ROI, great legacy and a wonderful alumni network. BITS Pilani - Its Magic !!!

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The BITS MBA curriculum is kind of outdated but steps are taken every month by the faculty and the student body to incorporate new elements into the academic curriculum to meet with the current industry requirements.

Internships Opportunities

Department of Management, BITS Pilani follows a semester program and a student graduate with 8 months of corporate experience. (2 months of Summer Internship and 1 entire semester for Practice School). You will complete your academic requirements in the first 3 semesters and a firm will be allotted to you by the Practice School Division of the University by the end of the 3rd Semester, based on your profile. I had undergone my Summer Internship at JSW Salem. The average stipend for Batch 2017-19 was 15K with 30K being the highest. I worked under the Training and Development department of the firm, responsible for mapping the performance of all the plant personnel for the quarter April - June. The highest stipend during the final 6 month internship (PS) for my batch was 55K for CISCO.

Placement Experience

4

The placement season would start by the mid of November every year and it will carry through the PS period in the 4th semester. My batch is undergoing their PS right now. Our placement stats will be out by July which is when our program will be concluded. Placements are going good as of now. My peers are placed in top companies like Accenture, KPMG, Schneider Electric, Maybank etc and the placement season is still going strong. Our Placement Committee is putting a tremendous effort to organize drives near our PS stations. When it comes to raw figures, i dont have enough information to divulge much. I was offered a package of 9 LPA and the highest package was offered for Maybank. Having work ex in IT Domain is a big plus for getting recruited in organizations like Accenture and Maybank.

College Events

5

Apart from academics, each student of the batch will be part of various clubs under MASSOC (Management Association) where you will get to organize Department of Management's INTERFACE, which has a rich legacy of 41 years and is one of the oldest annual Management conclave of the country. Apart from that, you will get to interact and coordinate guest lectures by industry experts, organize workshops (six sigma certification, PMP Preparatory course, Advance Excel, Basics of Analytics etc) which will make you corporate ready when you graduate. Plus, the BITS legacy will fetch you tons of respect in the corporate that will give you an extra edge over your peers.

Fee Structure And Facilities

When compared to other B-Schools, the fee structure is very feasible considering the high quality of faculty and infrastructure that BITS Pilani offers for its student. The fee for 2017-19 batch was around 8 Lakhs and it will significantly come down if a student gets Teaching Assistantships under various departments of the University.

Fees and Financial Aid

BITS Pilani also offers Teaching Assistantships for meritorious students during your period of studies in the campus which is like 55k-60k per semester. Deducting all this, your fee will come down to a little over 6 Lakhs which is amazing considering the average package for our seniors was around 10 Lakhs.

Campus Life

5

BITS Pilani provides world class facilities for sports including a separate Student Activity Centre catering for indoor sports like Badminton, Table Tennis, Snooker, Squash and has ample facilities for outdoor sports like grounds for Football and Cricket, courts for Tennis and Basketball etc. BITS Pilani organizes an annual sports meet, BOSM which is a 5 day event.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel facilities provided for students are out of the world, For our batch the higher degree students were provided with 1BHK flats which was shared between two students. The hostels are well maintained and good quality multi cuisine food is provided to students.

Alumni/Alumna

BITS Pilani have a large Alumni Network (BITSAA) who are acclaimed professionals, entrepreneurs, scholars and researchers who are spread out in different parts of the world. The Alumni's often visit the University and contribute significantly to their almamater in terms of donation, employment opportunities and wholeheartedly provide insights to students through guest lectures and other interactive sessions.

Exam Structure

For each semester, the student will have to undergo a Mid-Term and Comprehensive Examination apart from Quizzes and Assignments. Surprise elements are also part of the student grading process which can be presentations, short-quizzes or case study evaluations. A student who fails to acquire the necessary credits for a particular semester will not be allowed to register for the next semester.

Admission

BITS Pilani follows a profile based selection process. The Admission Committee will shortlist candidates based on their overall profile, work-ex and CAT/GMAT score. The shortlisted candidates are then called for a GD/PI process which will be held in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Pilani. Based on the candidate's performance in the GD/PI process, he/she is given an Admission Offer Letter. Make sure that you have a carefully prepared Statement of Purpose (SOP) and have good clarity on current affairs, latest business news and your work experience. Justify and validate your performance, both academic and co-curricular, throughout your stint at School and College.

Faculty

4

Department of Management, BITS Pilani is being handled by vastly experienced faculties who have completed their PhD's from elite institutes like IITs, IIMs, NIT etc. Their right mix of experience both in teaching and in the corporate enables them to guide the students in the right direction and makes them corporate ready by the end of the program.

The curriculum is good . We also have yoga classes , classes on India's history, spirituality, ayurveda etc.. and these two courses are compulsory for all departments. The exam level is between medium to difficult. I think there should be more choices of minor subjects or skill development subjects.
