Course Curriculum Overview
I was having psychology from class 11th. I had already made up my mind to do this course since 11th class only. This course is wide and has a lot of dimensions to study in. Here u are provided with real world applications by getting internships to practice how u will be in the next 5 years. The teaching methods are perfect with practical knowledge given to students. The only problem I think I faced in the exam season was during winters. The timings for the exam were 9:30 in the morning.it was chilled cold outside that made it difficult to actually get up and go to give the exam. Otherwise it all depends on how well u have prepared for the exam.
Internships Opportunities
I am in the first year of my college so I am not aware about the internships with stipends provided here. But u can definitely get a guide about it from the teacher and they will definitely help you know where to find the right internships for you that will also help you build a good CV
Fees and Financial Aid
I am studying in GGDSD College the affiliated college of Punjab University. This is a private govt. College both so the fees is considered genuine here. U can take direct admission so there's no need for an admission exam. The course of psychology which I am studying is really an interesting subject. The faculty for each and every subject gives importance to the time in order to finish the syllabus. They are friendly towards the students and let us have put time to complete out projects by giving a reasonable deadline. The college provides internships to students in the 2 year to help them learn better in there field. There are various non profit organisations as well that help u explore and help people in need by organising various activities for students like us. College does charge fine for late fees submission and less attendence that is there way of bringing students to college regularly. Overall it is a very happening college if u let urself engage in activities and groups that will definitely help u learn a lot and grow. The college also includes of the NCC and NDA performances for students to develop there skills along side.
Campus Life
College life is all about experiencing new things and break your boundaries to come out as a completely different person better than before. You meet different people that help u learn a lot of new things. You can join groups and organisations that help u develop your skills. The library here provides all sort of books for every subject out there. The faculty is extremely supportive and helps students gain real life experience related to there subjects. The sports department is something I have not discovered yet but planning to do so in future. There is NCC and NDA branch for the ones who are planning to go in army. The college also organises webinars invitating famous personalities to share there views and knowledge for the students to gain insights on the subject. The college also gives opportunities to students to develop the small businesses by Lettinh them put a stall in the college itself. All of this is more than what a student needs for a support in his/her college life.
Admission
I applied to Delhi University before I found about this college. I have the CUET axam and cleared it. Got admission in 2 college of DU also. But when I found about this college in chandigarh i thought it's close to my house and Delhi is not a good option to study and stay alone as a girl. That is why I opted for this college. This college consists of societies that are active and really engaging that helps students develop various skills such and public speaking, content creation, leadership skills and more. To take admission in this college you need to be a 12th pass student with minimum 55% in boards. This college accept admissions directly and there's no admission exam before taking admission in this college
Faculty
Faculty is definitely approachable here. You can ask your doubt without the fear of being judged. The best faculty here is for sociology and the journalism department. The are friendly and motivates the students to develop there knowledge in the field. The exams are conducted similar to the pattern of school. The only difference is the result that comes in the form of CGPA and not percentage. There's a semester of 6 months where in the 3rd month the (MST) mid semester term is conducted just like UT in schools. Further in the 5th month the final exams are conducted. The result are declared after 2 to 3 months of completion. The paper is generally not that tough because it is also based on how well u have prepared otherwise it's totally dependent on it. If u think the paper is hard then u need to prepare more for the exam prior. And the exam automatically seems easy if u are well prepared.
Night Life
Since I am not staying in a hostel so I am not aware of what areas are open to college students and night. But one thing i am sure about is the locality where the college resides is very safe for everybody.
