Remarks

If the University can invest in better faculty like they have done with the infrastructure, the college has the potential to become on of the very best institutions in the country. It's already an institute of eminence and is recognised by the government of India.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course is 5 years long and covers all aspects of the skills needed for architecture. Final year, that is the 5th year is for internship and is mandatory, and is a requirement for the awarding of the degree.

Placement Experience

3

There is no placement in architecture, the internship is for the same. If the firm's where one interns are impressed with the students work, they end up hiring them. Else one has to share their portfolios and apply to different firms.

College Events

5

The college doesn't have a lot of events. Other institutions in the University have alot of events and celebrations. Every semester students of our department go on site visits and case studies to different cities. Also at the end of each semester, a circuit trip is planned but is not mandatory.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The total course fee is 15 Lakhs for 5 years. The infrastructure provided is exemplary However I still feel that the fees is overpriced and is expensive. And the 15 Lakhs fees is for merit students, while in other colleges it's a fifth of the price.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is no scholarship offered. Only children of staff are given a scholarship and the students joining the University from the schools and colleges run by the Manipal group. Additionally, Konkani speaking people have a scholarship as well.

Campus Life

5

There is a seven stories building for sports called marena, and is the largest of its kind and has everything from a swimming pool, to a gym, tennis courts, athletic tracks, basketball courts etc. The campus has a lot of clubs and one can join as per their interests.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

No, I had not opted for hostel facility, but the hostels and other supplementary service were top notch. The campus has enough activities and the infrastructure offered is world class. The hostels are very modern and plush.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes there is a strong alumni network that is doing very well and they are all very well placed. There are alumni meets regularly. The network is very helpful. They organise regular events for the current students.

Admission

For architecture, Nata exam marks are compulsory, and class 12 marks are added to get average. then all applicants are ranked and top 160 interested applicants are taken for the course. For engineering, the University has their own entrance exam.

Faculty

3.5

The college has many new and inexperienced faculty, who simultaneously teach and pursue their masters or PhD in the same institute. Also, the University ensures we have a good visiting faculty, who are generally established and reputed architects.

Placement Experience:

Architecture is completely a solo thinking work we can work in groups as well but if a structure is designed by a single architect then it has a taste of that particular person but if its a group then all will be mixed and have different kind of brains giving different ideas soo an individual can manage even if he doesnt get a placement

Course Curriculum Overview:

You'll indulge in a lot of painting and are related stuff. Well since Architecture is not only about art, there are subjects which will use up your brain cells. You also get to go to study trips too! The ride is not smooth- everyday would be a submission day , everyday would be a love-hate relationship with the course. Internal reviews, external reviews, viva and jury, presentation and assignments, written exams...theyre enough to keep you busy throughout. Since its Affiliated to vtu, the system does seem not so updated to date. You cannot expect to have a month of holidays after each Semester too. Dont dream of having a pleasant vacation break.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is more condensed that other colleges', so it makes it easier to tackle multiple things at once. The course prepares us for real world applications through their dual internship program, which is a strong point in their curriculum. If the course in itself had more real world applications, instead of very superficial ideas, it would be more helpful The exams are a hurdle, but it comes with the rigor of the course, and it is something students end up adapting to over the course of 5 years.

Course Curriculum Overview:

If you check with other colleges the approach to the curriculum is different and more fun. The process of learning is more fun and appealing making us satisfied of what we have done at the end. Sometimes we don't get how the teachers are expecting us to do our assignments but we figure it out some how. Exams happen twice a semester (mid-sem and end-sem).

Since our HOD changed this year, I'm not sire about when the placements are available, most probably would be for the 5th year students so 9th sem onwards. Not sur3 about which companies either, highest package would be 8000 I'm guessing, we don't get paid much. My plan is to switch courses, this was absolutely useless to me :)
