Remarks

Every college has a positive and negative side , Focusing more on the positive aspects , the faculty , the infrastructure provided. The ability of the faculty to push the students to get the best out of them is exceptional.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Sjb sap is affiliated to VTU (Vishweshwaraiah technological University). The curriculum is set by VTU according to the current trends in architecture. VTU in general does not have a good reputation and is known for it's delays.

Internships Opportunities

College offers various cross country programs ( 15days to 1 month) for students to interact with students from other countries and to have a larger exposure in the field of architecture. Opportunity for these programs come every year , and are charged for separately. (Not compulsory)

Placement Experience

3

A student has to find an architectural firm on his own for the internship(based on interest) in final semester. Job opportunities are not given / promised by the college. Unlike an engineering college , architecture schools do not have placements.

College Events

2.5

Annual cultural fest Annual sports fest (KRIRA) Member of NASA ( National association of students of architecture) Hosted the Annual NASA convention Participates regularly in all the events conducted by NASA

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure for CET - 55,000+36,000 Fee structure for COMEDK - 1,75,000+36,000 Apart from this , there are fines charged on regular basis for small and silly things , which will cost almost 5,000 per semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are no scholarships/loan facilities provided by college (as of my knowledge). However there are schloraships provided for minorities and OBC's by their respective private associations. There is always an option for conventional educational loan from a bank.

Campus Life

4

College has a climatology lab and multiple workshop spaces with model making rooms. Site visits and guest lectures happen on a regular basis to give the students a good exposure. Extracurricular activities are not given the first preference, however students do have an opportunity to participate in sports and culturals as well.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel infrastructure , is decent 2 sharing with attach bath 3sharing with common bathroom Are the available options. Food provided in mess is average. Other facilities includes a TV room, small gym, basketball court and a cricket ground.

Alumni/Alumna

Since the college is pretty young (6-7 years old) there is one batch that has graduated. Seniors are helpful and provide good references. However the faculty itself has a very good network outside the college. As a result which multiple guest lectures are conducted.

Exam Structure

There are mainly 2 types of exams Internals ( Happens every month ) Externals ( happens at the end of the semester ) There are mainly 3 internals conducted for every subject throughout the semester , and the average of all the 3 / best of two is chosen as the final internal marking of that subject for the particular semester.

Admission

To get admission to any of the architecture colleges , one has to write NATA (national aptitude test for Architecture). Minimum score required in NATA is 80/200. After which the NATA score and 12th marks card (or any equivalent with maths and English) has to be submitted to CET and COMEDK council. After which the ranks are generated respectively based on merit. I acquired my seat in sjb school of architecture through COMEDK merit list.

Faculty

4

The faculty of our college consists of teachers from all of the major fields in architecture Urban planners,Urban designers, To landscape and interior designers. Every subject is taught by the teacher who has a specialization in it. There are even currently parctising architects who come to teach , known as the visiting faculty , who are always updated with the current trends in architecture business.

Placement Experience:

Architecture is completely a solo thinking work we can work in groups as well but if a structure is designed by a single architect then it has a taste of that particular person but if its a group then all will be mixed and have different kind of brains giving different ideas soo an individual can manage even if he doesnt get a placement

Course Curriculum Overview:

You'll indulge in a lot of painting and are related stuff. Well since Architecture is not only about art, there are subjects which will use up your brain cells. You also get to go to study trips too! The ride is not smooth- everyday would be a submission day , everyday would be a love-hate relationship with the course. Internal reviews, external reviews, viva and jury, presentation and assignments, written exams...theyre enough to keep you busy throughout. Since its Affiliated to vtu, the system does seem not so updated to date. You cannot expect to have a month of holidays after each Semester too. Dont dream of having a pleasant vacation break.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is more condensed that other colleges', so it makes it easier to tackle multiple things at once. The course prepares us for real world applications through their dual internship program, which is a strong point in their curriculum. If the course in itself had more real world applications, instead of very superficial ideas, it would be more helpful The exams are a hurdle, but it comes with the rigor of the course, and it is something students end up adapting to over the course of 5 years.

Course Curriculum Overview:

If you check with other colleges the approach to the curriculum is different and more fun. The process of learning is more fun and appealing making us satisfied of what we have done at the end. Sometimes we don't get how the teachers are expecting us to do our assignments but we figure it out some how. Exams happen twice a semester (mid-sem and end-sem).

Since our HOD changed this year, I'm not sire about when the placements are available, most probably would be for the 5th year students so 9th sem onwards. Not sur3 about which companies either, highest package would be 8000 I'm guessing, we don't get paid much. My plan is to switch courses, this was absolutely useless to me :)
