Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose this course as cce is a very sought out course as most companies pay well for a well educated software or data science engineer. The course curriculum seemed very promising as it includes not only coding subjects but also communication which widens the forte of any student that is majoring in this course. The course really lays groundwork for any further endeavors as it makes sure you are equipped with the most basic of necessities whether it be coding or communication ethic. The course should allow for easy cross examination of faculty material, along with the ability to code as and when the teacher introduces new topics to the students. This is something not present as of now in the course. Teachers need to update code as it seems material is being recycled year after year. Quizzes and sem examinations are conducted at a rapid pace, sometimes a month from each other. This seems to be enough time, but in actuality leaves no room for other activities to occur.

Placement Experience

3

From the7th sem onwards campus placements are put in place for btech students. Many companies such as microsoft, google, BMW, mercedes, accenture and others look for students here. The top 100 of each branch get the highest packages with the average of that being 22lpa for the cce branch. The rest of the students that are placed have an average salary of 14 lpa. Almost all the students are placed with the placement rate being around 90% for my branch. I plan on working for 2 years after getting placed and then pursuing an MBa degree abroad to further my tenure as a valuable asset to whatever company takes me under their wing.

Fees and Financial Aid

the payment for branches like cse, it, cce, and other computer related branches is 5lpa from the second year. Other branches have yearly payments of upto 3.5lpa. The fee for all the first years is common, being 3.5lpa. Since the start of the 2024 batch the fee has gone upto about 5 lakh for first years, and then 7 going up till the 4th year. This only includes tuition fees, hostel fees varies according to what kind of room is taken. Single ac- 2.3 lakh in any hostel double ac- 1.5 lakh non ac common washroom- 98000 there are no reservations in MIT manipal, NRI quota has a total cost of 25 lakh for 4 years. if the student has a language quota, he/she may get an exemption of upto 10%, and if they perform better than 80% of the college, they get a scholarship for upto 20%. The fee structure for students below rank 100 is about 1.5lakh per year. students with annual income less than 8 lakh also follow the same structure.

Campus Life

5

the club culture at MIT Manipal is phenominal , being one of the best in the entirety of india. Heavy emphasis on clubs and student projects was placed on students at the very start of the year as it obviously has a major impact on the students skillset. If the student project that the student decides to opt in has any bearing on their branch, he/she may mention that in their cv. Most the student projects are funded quite well and it shows. Manipal student projects go all over the globe every year to participate in their respective fields. Sports is also well looked after as manipal has a huge turf field that accomodates both football and hockey enthusiasts. We also have a cricket field and volleyball court in the same vicinity. The student life is made exciting with the club culture and student project work while also having a great deal of sports to keep the student entertained.

Hostel Facilities

4

Rooms vary from single ac attached washroom , single non ac common washroom, double ac attached washroom, and double ac common. The common washrooms are only in block 10 and block 5 as these are older blocks, A single room with ac and an attached washroom will set you back 2.3 lakh per year for any block. Meals in the mess are of decent quality, with some messes being an exception like FC1. PGs are also an option for anyone searching for accomodation other than hostel rooms. Registration for hostel is very easy as you can choose rooms based on availablity from any block. The juniors and seniors have separate blocks, junior blocks being 5,6,16,17 and 10.10 seems to be a block that accomodates all types of students ranging from year 1s to year 4s. The year after the first blocks are filled by virtue of cgpa. block 14 is the highest cgpa requirement being 7.5+ for a double attached ac room. non ac rooms are also available like block 19 or block 10.

Admission

I tried JEE but could not secure a good enough percentile to get into prominent NITs. MIT Manipal seemed to be better than any of the cet colleges with only the course fee being slightly on the higher end. I applied to SRM and VIT, both of which i got accepted into, but opted out as it seemed like both of these colleges rely heavily on student intake and are money minded. MIT Manipal has an exam called the MET which is based on a jee scheme (+3 -1). In my year the only marks required to secure a seat in the college was the MET but the scheme has changed and now board marks are also taken into consideration. JEE percentile can also be considered if the student secures above 95 , but most students take MET and are given ranks according to it.

Faculty

3

Plenty of faculty to go around as each course has multiple sections and each section has a different teacher. When it comes to approachability some of the faculty teach much better when approached privately than in classroom settings. This is actually the case with most faculty. This means they are not trained to teach multiple students at once and it is obvious education on this skill is required. Some of the best faculties to teach are Dr.Balachandra- DS teacher , and Pankaj sir for DSCO. Both being extremely good at the subject but also managing to teach in a way that captivates all the students without exception. The fail and pass rate for every exam vastly depends on the subject difficulty in general. This is good as it means that the difficulty is scaled well and the teachers dont blatantly fail students. Course curriculum is very relevant to respective courses with an exception being mathematics being compulsory for everyone. Quizzes are conducted with the frequency of around 2 times per 3 weeks and they range from challenging to easy. Two major exams are mid sems and end sems and the difficulty is scaled pretty moderately in both of them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum has the necessary subjects of the branch...It is constantly updated every year to adhere to relevancy and comphrehensiveness of the course..My department of AIML teaches us the necessary computer subjects such as Nature Inspired computing, Deep learning etc and also the Maths and Stats whch is required for machine learning is though too ( Like Maths for machine learn and statistical modellign, inferential statistics, time series analysis etc)..These subjects also have lab components which help us prepare for real-world applications. But some of the older subjects on the other hand which might be core computer science or in first year..common subjects like CAED and others are not required and outdated. The frequency and timings of exams is moderate..neither good nor bad

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th sem. The highest on campus package this year was around 64 LPA, while as far as I know, the top 20% of the students usually get offers in the 16-24LPA range. The overall placement rate is good, but results depend a lot on your skills and practice
