Likes
- Infrastructure is good. We have sports complex which comes with a fully fledged Gym, indoor badminton court, tennis court, football and cricket ground
- M.A Ansari health centre provide free of cost checkup to the students.
- We have a central Library which have large book collection of 4 lakh books ranging from Academic to non fiction.
Dislikes
- Gender ratio very low in JMI with some classes have 5 girls and 80 boys.
- Placement is not at pat with NITs. With the prestige that is attached to JMI, placement does not do justice to it
- Hostel is not allotted to every student this hinders students to have complete college life experience
Course Curriculum Overview
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Course is relevant with today's demands with strong emphasis on fundamental subject like circuit, control system and power system. Focus on modern topics like renewable energy, smart grids etc. Exams are held 3 times in 1 sem and they range from easy to moderate level.
Placement Experience
Placement season start from 7 sem. Big companies like Microsoft, Adobe, Siemens, L&T, CDot and some PSU also hires from JMI. 64 LPA was the highest offered by Microsoft last year. For CSE average package was 15 LPA, for other branches it's between 8-10 lpa. About 80% student gets placed rest are preparing for further studies or government exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have paid 16k for first year. Includes tuition fees,exam fees, lab, library fees. Hostel fees is 30k for 6 months which includes mess fees also. For self finance course fees is 1.5 Lakh. For financial aid you can always avail NSP (if eligible). There also Alumini association scholarship given to the students.
Campus Life
JMI does not have any tech or cultural fest. But they celebrate foundation day in the end of October. Baith baazi, mushayra are held. Occasionally open mics are organised. Library consist of large number of books nearly 4 lakh textbook collection. Some Classes are equipped with projectors and AC. Sports is highly promoted in JMI . There are various science and technology clubs like TRS, SOARX, 180 D, etc
Admission
I gave JEE Mains and got 91% so I was not getting any good NITs. I was getting my state engineering colleges. I opted JMI over these college because it's was cheaper and provided better exposure and placement. I was denied admission to NITs because of low JM score which could have been increased if had done easy to score chapter and not wasted my time solving irrelevant material. Admission process is as follows. Firstly you have to apply for JMI counselling (forms usually comes in the month of Feb) you will be required to enter your JEE Mains registration number. Candidate will be shortlisted on the basis of their jm scores selected students need to physically report in the college for future formalities. Eligiblity For obc students is min. of 55% pcm aggregate marks in 12th board .
Faculty
JMI faculty is well educated and well trained. With lot of teachers completed their phD from abroad. Teachers are nice to students. There are total of 3 exams in 1 sem. 2 mid sem (30 marks combined) and 1 end sem (45 marks). End sem are moderate to high and Mid sem are easy to moderate. Course curriculum is relevant and at par with NITs.
Night Life
College closes after 9 pm and no student are not allowed to enter campus premises after that. There are other hangout spots nearby outside the campus. Locality is safe to roam outside. Community center nearby have cafes and food joints where students can hangout.
