Course Curriculum Overview

4

The major merit of our college is that it is an autonomus college. So the exams are not conducted by the university but the college itself. Therefore the exams and results are conducted on the correct time . The syllabus are same as the kerala university. First semester covers basic mechanics ,physical chemistry, vector algebra all with english malayalam as languages (hindi or french also can selected by students instead of malayalam) . Second semester covers Thermodynamics with other complimentary subjects, Third semester covers electrodynamics and fourth semester covers modern physics So first year and second year completes, on the third year 5th semester we having a add on course that includes evey subject available except physics for physcis students. WIth this add on course we having 4 purly physics topics includes quantum physics , atomic physics , electronics and statistical physics . On final semester we having 5 topics includes nuclear physics, solid state physics, digital electronics and computer application, classical optics and one elective course for all students and that is instrumentation. The syllabus covers more hardcore physics theory more than real applications because of that majority of students are taking other career options or jobs not related to physics after this course. I hope this situation is solve in upcoming 4 year course that having entierly different carriculum and exam mode that includes more and more real world applications. Exams are not that hard like it only requires a small amound of efgfort to pass the exam.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fatima mata national college kollam is an autonomous college affliated with kerala university. The course i enrolled is Bsc physics (3 years). The year wise fees are usually 4000 per year. We having lab exam on second and third year. During the lab exams we need to pay 150 Rs as the lab fees. And durng semester wise exams we need to pay 450 as end semester exam fee. Lab exam fee and end semester exam fee are common for every students. During the admission for general category ,students want to pay 2000Rs as admission fee and for OBC category its 1500Rs. And for SC/ST its 800Rs. During admission a security deposit is paid ,about 1000Rs by every students.College is affliated with kerela university ,because of that there were no aditional charges for anything. All the celebrations ,Arts day, sports day, are conducted by students groups and the minimum fund for these programs are ranges from 250-350Rs.tThere are many scholarships available for OBC and SC/ST students ranges up tp 10,000Rs.E grand scholarships are available for financially backword students that provides with about 1500Rs per year. Also PTA funded scholarships and awards also their for the students who scores high marks in each semester, even certain awards are for the students who scores high marks for specific subjects in each semesters. These ranges from 5000-7000Rs. Management seats are also available in my college.Price changes according to subjects.for example in physics seats are available for 70,000-100000Rs for both Bsc and MSC.

Campus Life

MY campus is such a socially friendly campus having some exciting people all around us. We having unions or students groups who conducts programs every year. These groups are selected by the students itself on every year through election process. Campus is so friendly

Admission

The main reason why i selected this college is because it is near my house so i dont want to travel more . Other reason is that it is an autonomous college. So the results will come in correct time than the university colleges. Also the management is so strict abut the studys and they provide high quality education for students who studys there. I got admission in mar ivanios college trivandrum ,its also an autonomous college but becaus it was on anathor district i didnt went there. Honestly i was not prepared for the long distance life at that time or else i will go there for sure, because its one of the major an popular college in kerala, many celebraties are alumini there. I first got admission in NSS kollege kottiyam on the basis of my mark, but it was a small college so i didnt go there Then i got admission in Fatima mata national college . I also got rejecton from trivandrum kerala university, because of general category students needs more than 99% to get in there , i only got 96%

Basically our college is an autonomous ,so the exams are conducted by the college its self. Because of that the exams are conducted in correct time even though the portions are not completed. A nd the results are also reaches at correct time after exam. So it will help the students to complete their failed papers and can also improve their exam resulton next supply exam. It is a 3 year course having 6 semesters each. each semester having 3 exams . CAT 1 (continous assisment test), CAT2 and end semester exam . Every semester ranges from 3-4 months each. Our college having wide ranges of different faculties. My favourite teacher is DR SACHIN PC ,he is a phd scholar in astrophysics from IIST trivandrum. He teaches us quantum mechanics ,special theory of relativity like the core portions in physics. His way of teaching style is magnificent. We all are so intrested about his class. Other teachers includes BAGYA UTHAMAN, BEN BYJY , RATHEESH R, MANU SHAJI , JUDE all are so dedicated teachers who takes such intresting classes. One Teacher called SUNIL THOMAS , i dont like his teaching style. Honestly i several times slept in his class. Its like he makes Bore topics even BOTE. Some of the other good teachers are MINI TEACHER fro chemistry department, ALICE from malayalam department , and MARIA from english department. But the common problem of every faculies in my college is that they are so bad at completing the topics for exams and some are so not intrested in taking classes. soem teachers from each department are like that. The total faculty student ratio is 9:250

Night Life

5

College didnt having any types of night life. There is no hostel life in my college . All students are coming from their home every day. The gym is not working right now . The cafeteria is one of the top quality spot in our college having quality and affordable food. Central library having a great collections of books and space for reserch and study also air conditioned

From 5th semester you will be eligible for campus placements. Big banks like federal bank, south indian bank provide high placement package with the highest package being 60k per month. Other IT companies like Wipro, accenture, and deloit etc also provide high package placements.Almost 50 to 75 percent of students get placed after third year. My plan is if i get a good package I'll go for the placement or else I'll go for my masters degree

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choosed this degree for me to pursue higher studies in uk or foreign country to study cosmetics related field. So for that bsc chemistry degree must have But this curriculum doesn't teach something base to that I think so.. For further studies the teachers need improvement to teach certain topics some teachers didn't even prepare to study students and lab safety is not in the lab.Because of the teaching the portions are done in last minutes and often exams are difficult in major subjects so they need to improve their study methods and often approach students nicely..

I feel in love with mathematics in plus two time. The coursee are more application based when compared to other. Out college being an autonomous college has good grip to keep up to the level of good education. Overall teaching methods and syllabus are very good. Frequency of exams are troublesome during the last time of year because all the programmes like youth festival annual day etc come together

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Bsc electronics, it has an attractive curriculum and some of them are influenced me in some way. The facilities are well-known about the curriculum preparing and all. The current curriculum is good but it needs some changes. Include more practicals is one of my suggestion. Teaching methods are good it doesn't need any change. Exams are conducted by Kerala University, so the college can't do anything in main exams but the college will complete all the portions before the exam date it is sure.
