An overview of NITPY

The curriculum followed by NIT Puducherry is NEP 2020. This curriculum allows flexibility and the choice for students to select electives in the subjects they prefer. It is also possible to do a Dual Masters degree within the 4 years of BTech via NEP. The curriculum is versatile and improves real life understanding and applications.Usually in a semester there are 2 cycle tests followed by an end semester exam. There is a gap of 1.5 to 2 months between cycle tests. The exams are of moderate difficulty, thorough understanding of the syllabus is necessary to score well.

There are many companies which provide intern opportunities (Nvidia, ABB, BHEL, BEL etc) and minimum stipend offered is ?20000 Those who are not interested in working interns can do projects in more prestigious institutions (like NITT, IITM) via recommendation letters.

Students are eligible for placements starting from 6th semester onwards Many famous comapnies like Nvidia, Samsung, ABB, Hitachi, Goldman Sachs, Ford, BHEL, BEL, Tata, L&T etc visit the campus The higest package overall is 16 LPA, average is 11LPA More than 75% of the students sitting for placements get placed My plans after degree not decided yet

The tuition fees per year is fixed at ?140000 for general category. There is a fee waiver of 50% if the total family income is below 5LPA and 100% waiver if the family income is below 1LPA. Additionally there is a 100% tuition fee waiver for SC/ST candidates. information regarding scholarships are frequently sent to students so that they can apply and avail the benefits.

The Annual Cultural Fest LeCiel is held around September, the fest is for two days and has many exciting shows, competitions and famous band performances. The annual technical fest Gyanith is held around February and has many workshops and technical competitions. There is a vast collection of books available in library, may it be for academics or other project works Classrooms have a digital board, black board and other regular amenities There is a large area for sports and we can see students playing all the time, even at nighttimes and early mornings There are more than 15 clubs run by students which cover many genres. The club activities are exciting and engaging thanks to well commited seniors.

Every hostel room has 3 beds 2 study tables and chairs, two wardrobes, two shelves and two shoe racks. The view from the hostels are amazing. The meal quality is decent if you are not a very picky eater and the menu is different for thr entire week and non repeating

I applied for other NITs of the similar range(NIT Raipur, NIT AP etc) and private colleges (VIT, Sastra) , i got a confirmed admission from VIT, Sastra and NITAP but i still went for NIT Puducherry because: First of all it is a central institution of National Importance The peer group consist of intelligent people who come only from merit qualification, not from management quota. The admission for NIT PY is from JoSAA and CSAB counselling

There is a 1:10 faculty to student ratio. The faculties are friendly and lenient in general even though everyone has their strict sides. The faculty are easily approachable in case of academic doubts or any other queries. I personally liked Dr Venkadesan for his joyful yet serious personality and the way he delivered lectures. The exams are moderate in difficulty, questions are asked from the content taught by professors, and the content is very relevant to the curriculum

Best thing to do at night is to go on a walk with friends in the campus. The chill atmosphere is very calming. Hostel in timings for first year boys is 9:30PM The locality is safe to roam at night, just be careful of reptiles and rodents
