Course Curriculum Overview
The placements are the very first aspect people look for in a college and here in XIMB placements are quite good. As this is a tier 1 college, placements and summer internships are good. And as I hail from Odisha itself, so this college is near my home, very convenient to visit my parents. Location of the college also, as this is situated in the middle of the city. Academic pressure is high and you have to balance out the academics with your committies and extra curricular activities and this is a real task. This may sound like easy one but it is not, and this thing prepares you for the real life challeneges when as a manager you have to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. No improvements required as such, it is going smoothly. Yeah, exams are quite difficult. I have an engineering background, there we used to study one day before only for the final semester exams but here you cannot do that, you have to study that day only what have been studied in the class otherwise you will lag behind.
Internships Opportunities
Asian paints- markering role, IBM- Product manager role, Wells Fargo- Finance intern, capgemini for IT consulting role etc etc. and many more companies with different roles. Live projects from different companies and case competitions are also organized so that students get to learn a lot of things that are actually required in corporate life.
Placement Experience
From 1st term only, students become eleigible for summer internships and from 4th term starting students become eligible for final placements. Average package is around 19.53 LPA and highest package is around 33 LPA. Prominent companies that comes for the final placements are BAIN&Co. , Tata Steel, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs. 100% placements is there. After college, I have a plan to join corporate then start my own business after some years.
Fees and Financial Aid
The 1st year tution fee for the MBA-BM is 13.4 lakhs and for 2nd year is 11.6 lakhs. Caution money is 20000, it is one time payment and refundable after the course completion. Hostel charges are charged based on the type of room students want, if it is single room then the charge is around Rs. 55000 while for the shared rooms the charge is around Rs. 45000. Other compulsory charge is that students need to pay Rs. 10000 in first year to student executive council committee for the functions and cultural events that are being organized in the college.
Campus Life
Campus life is very good. Girls are allowed in boys hostels from 6 AM to 10 PM. There is no restriction in timings for roaming inside the campus. Good social life. Classrooms are also very good. Spacious classrooms are there and you will get to see everything written on the board because of the placement of the seats. Sports events are very much engaging and students get excited when there is such event. Sports events includes junior sports, junior vs senior batch sport events, section wise events, intercollege sports event and many more. Sports events are fun. There are many committies in the college for finance, marketing, operations, casecoms, cultural committee, etc etc. As a student you get a lot of practjcal experience in these committee works and you get to form networks within your peers, seniors and alumn.
Hostel Facilities
Bed, chair and study table is being provided in the room. Meal is good, not that super good but it is ok. Night mess is very good where if you are buying something it will get added in your bill. Registrations for hostel is generally done by Residence secretaries and faculty in charge before entering the campus. Single rooms price this year is around Rs. 55000/yr while sharing ones are 45000/yr. This is a residential college, so you are basically not allowed to stay outside the campus because of the dynamic schedule.
Admission
I had applied to IIM's , XLRI Jamshedpur, IMT Gazhiabad. I had been selected for IMT Gazhiabad dual country program (PGDM-DCP). I had given PI for several IIM's, got selected for IIM Sambalpur and IIM Bodhgaya also but did not go there. And the colleges I could not convert are because of the questions related to my undergraduation. I had answered all the questions related to my work experience that they had asked. Overally I had performed not upto the mark, so did not get selected. Admission process in our college is through CAT, XAT and XGMT exam. Generally cut offs for this college goes around 92 percentile for non domicile and 91 percentile for domicile students. I had scored 95.80 percentile in CAT 2023. Here my interview went very smoothly , quality questions were asked and I had also prepared well for this interview.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is around 1:20. This ratio ensures that students receive adequate attention and guidance from the faculty while maintaning the institute's focus on academic rigor. Each student is also assigned a mentor for their well being and smooth journey in college. The faculties are very approachabale and they also ensure that each student gets his/her doubt cleared before the class ends. Ramanna Sir , Subhakant Padhi Sir, Biresh Kumar Sahoo Sir, RG Priyadarshini Mam, Biswa Swaroop Mishra Sir (Dean) are one among the best faculties. Mahamaya Mohanty Ma'am is one of the teachers I didn't like as she doesn't teach well in the classroom. There are total 6 terms in 2 years. 3 terms each in one year. In each term, quizzes, mid term and end term exams are there. You need to score minimum of 5 CGPA in 1st year to go to the second year and minimum of 5.5 CGPA aggregate in both the years so as to get the degree from the college. Relative grading is there in each and every exam conducted here. So if you perform average in every exam, you can easily score around 6 CQPI in each term(knowledge through noticing the previous patterns). And for final placements also your academic marks is required.
Night Life
Gym timings is from 6 PM to 9 PM in evening and 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM in the morning. Cafeterias and night canteen is generally open till 2:30 AM night. There is no such hostel timings but campus in timing is 10 PM max. If you come after that, fine will be imposed. X-Cafe, Akhila Cafe, Nescafe are the good hangout places inside the campus. And locality is totally safe to roam at night.
