Course Curriculum Overview

4

Couldn't say much about curriculum as the exam which is held for admission in the colleges is a state govt. based examination which doesn't let students a specific college, rather there are preferences in which we can set the colleges and seats are allotted accordingly. Most importantly the decision to join this perticular college comes from the fact that it is a govt. registered college and the students from these colleges are preferred in PUC's.

Internships Opportunities

5

Internships are provided in 6th semester which is provided from college itself. But can be choosed from provided options. The companies doesn't provide any stripend as the internship is for only one month. Projects are provided to students by their respective mentors which the students can choose themselves. But make sure to take an outstanding project as the invigilators are too strict.

Placement Experience

1

Not good at all placements. Worst placement college that is ever been. They couldn't get companies coming to this college after such long times. The only companies which comes gives packeges as low as 200000 per annum. which is worst in these present times.

Fees and Financial Aid

Year wise it takes about 12000 rupees as it is govt.registered and hostel wise monthly payment is also low about 300 rupees. Doesn't have any tution fees but has library and lab fees included in admission. All categories consists of same payment ammount only difference is during admission as ST and SC students gets easy admission due to low cutoff. Govt. Scholarships are also applicable to below poverty line category students which can be applied from college itself.

Campus Life

5

It has a developing infrastructure which can be termed as average. But the campus life is good with good locals and good friends. There is no such thing as outsiders not coming to hostels. Nice and cozy environment. Summers are worst in the place as its hot in there.

Admission

I personally applied for Dibrugarh University, Assam Engineering College, Tezpur University, and Jorhat Engineering College but got the preference in Barak Valley Engineering College. I was being called from this perticular college for admission process. I couldn't make it to other colleges as the cutoff is higher in those colleges.

Faculty

5

There is 1 faculty to 10 students per department which consists a total of 60 students. Names of some faculties includes Dr. Tuhin Deshmukhya sir, Dr. Iqbal sir, they are a gem to the college due to their dedication and commitment towards the students. There is two sessional examinations and then a final semister examination. Exams are pretty hard and needs much concentration and mostly practice.

Night Life

5

Great nightlife with fests and Dj nights which gets crazy. Great surroundings and great local people. Which didn't gave any disturbance during all those year's. The hostel timings are as follows - (For boys) Out time till - 9pm (For girls) Out time till - 6pm Irrespective of girls or boys anyone can go in or come out during these times.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum they will show you before admission is completely different what you will be getting. They will be covering things but not with a higher level. In a subject easy topics will be covered but when teacher find any topic difficult , it will not come in exam since everyone has to pass the exam. They can just follow the GATE exam curruculum and that would be enough for any students to outperform after engineering with real time lap teaching. There is semister exam only where you will have to give workshop and lab exam along with theory paper

Placement Experience:

Placements start from 7th semester (4th Year). Companies like Amazon, Legato, TCS, Synopsis, etc. visit for on campus placements. We have a very good placement ratio and average package. For CSE, the average package was 13 LPA and 92% students were placed. While for ECE, the average package was 8 LPA and 66% students were placed. I'm planning on gaining work experience for 2 years after my B.Tech and then pursue MS Or M.Tech from abroad.

Remarks:

I choosed because my CEE marks which was 92 at that time was not enough to get admission in govt engineering colleges and the OBC cut off was 120+. So, in Whole northeast Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology is the no 1 and the oldest private engineering college and I decided to take admission there.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
