Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum for metallurgical and materials engineering is excellent here at NIT Raipur. It connects students with real world problems making them industry ready. More practical teaching can be one of areas of improvement. There are exams twice per semester mid semester and end semester exam.
Internships Opportunities
There are internship opportunities available from 4 th semester some of which are with stipend, internship provided with course itself are generally without stipend. Companies visited are JSW Steel, Vedanta, Aditya Birla Group, Deloitte, ZS Associates etc. Roles offered were SWE, GET , Data analyst, DAA etc. Students are required to do some of the projects in 5th semester.
Placement Experience
For metallurgical and materials engineering students are eligible from 6th semester for campus placements. For 2024-25 placements around 150 companies visited which gave nearly 1100 offers. Highest package was 63 lpa and lowest was 4 lpa. Some of name of companies visited are JSW Steel, Vedanta , Aditya Birla Group etc. Profiles offered were SWE, Data Analyst, GET etc. Placement percentage was around 90 for metallurgical and materials engineering.
Fees and Financial Aid
The Yearly Fee Structure of my college ( NIT Raipur ) is approximately 143000 rs ( including miscellaneous and tution fees ) for General category. For students opting hotel accommodation they are required to pay approx 55000 rs annually, hostel fees slightly increases every year but tution fees remains the same.
Campus Life
In NIT Raipur main fests are Aavartan ( Annual Techfest ) , Eclectika ( Annual Cultural Fest ) , Samar ( Annual Sports Fest ). Aavartan held in November, Eclectika and Samar are organised in month of February and March respectively. Library here is well organised with all types of relevant books available.
Admission
For Bachelor degree course admission is through Joint Entrance Exam Mains. For metallurgical and materials engineering NIT Raipur is one of the best choices than other colleges. Cutoff change ms every year but generally varies from 96-97 percentile for Open category other state.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is approximately 1:100. Faculties here are helpful and cooperative always willing to help out students whether it is academic or non academic problems. Exams here are moderate level, with proper concept application decent grade can be scored. Course curriculum is relevant for every branch, it specifies learning outcomes.
Night Life
There are all facilities available in campus. After 10 pm we are not allowed to move out of campus. Cafeteria timings are from 9 am in morning to 9 pm in night. Locality is very safe to roam at night. There are various places to hangout outside college.
