What Students Say
Likes
- The best thing about the college is that it is becoming autonomous from this year, which means Exams are no longer controlled by AKTU.
- The syllabus is not the traditional outdated AKTU syllabus, and it is updated from this year due to the college being autonomous.
- Faculty in the college are very supportive.
Dislikes
- Placements in the college are average, however we are expecting it to boom due to college becoming autonomous.
- Although the campus is spacious and good enough to accommodate almost everything. But from POV of an engineering college it is average.
- hostels in the college is limited so there are many students who do not get hostel in 1st year.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum in IT branch is pretty updated from the previous traditional AKTU syllabus, and since my batch is the first autonomous batch, we will be experimented most with the curriculum of the course. Overall, the syllabus is pretty much relevant to the modern industrial demand and it prepares you well for the real-world applications. The frequency of the exams is a matter of concern for me, since for the whole semester you'll be preparing for exams all time. Timing of examinations are roughly same as the AKTU exam timings.
Internships Opportunities
Talking about the internships, Since I am in 1st year, so I can't tell more about it, but I've heard that they will be providing unpaid internship opprtunities to even 1st year students to help them gain experience working in the industry. But currently I am in 1st semester, So i don't know more about it.
Placement Experience
Placements in KIET are average, as every other top college coming under AKTU. You can expect a good placement percentage with decent packages, averaging around 6 to 7 lpa in my branch(IT) or any computer-related branches, and 4 to 6 lpa overall. The highest package offered is 64 lpa this year(off-campus obviously). The placement percentage is quite good. However, I am expecting placements to boom from this year as our college is now AUTONOMOUS.
Fees and Financial Aid
Talking about the fees, Since I am a Fee Waiver candidate, My tution fee is waived off and I have to pay only 39000 rs (20k to AKTU for the 1st year + 19k to college) per year. But I also have idea about the normal fee of the college which is 140k per year excluding hostel fee. Regarding the scholarship, the UP Government scholarship is available for students but a fee waiver candidate is not eligible for the scholarship.
Campus Life
Overall campus life is average in KIET. The campus is spacious with decent infrastructure- modern labs, a big library, and sports facilities. However, the campus area is not very big in numbers, but they managed it excellently. Since I am not in the hostel, I can't talk about the hostel life, hostel food and facilities, but I've heard it is pretty good. Talking about the fests, this is a disappointing area as there is only one fest annually.
Admission
I applied for GGSIPU colleges in Delhi but I didn't admitted there due to very high fees. Also in AKTU counselling, I opted for JSS Noida over KIET but couldn't get fee waive seat there So, I decided to take rather fw seat in IT in KIET rather than normal seat in CSE in JSS noida. One of the main reasons is also that the KIET is becoming autonomous from this year.
Faculty
Talking about faculty, most of the professors are approachable and knowledeable, especially in core subjects. The faculty is supportive enough if you show interest, but classes can be fast-paced (depends on the student) due to heavy syllabus. The syllabus, since the college is now autonomous, is updated from this year onwards and improved a lot. I almost liked each and every faculty members. Exams are easy if you pay attention to the classes, and the majority of the students are passed. But there are too many exams as there are 12 subjects in the 1st semester itself.
Interview Experience
No, I simply got admission through AKTU counselling using JEE mains score. But I have heard about direct admission process where you can get in college through class 12 marks but obviously in that case you have to pay more and also you cannot get tuition fee waiver seat.
Night Life
Since I am not in hostel, I can't talk about nightlife in the KIET hostels but from what i've heard and seen, it is very good as there is a gym, many cafeterias, a big central library etc. The best place to hangout inside college is the radha-kridhna temple in the college campus.
Other Applied Colleges
JSS Academy of Technical Education - [JSSATE] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Because I was not getting Fee Waiver in JSS college.
