Course Curriculum Overview

3

I had love for nature since the beginning. That's how I knew I need to opt for this particular course, and this was the right decision. The curriculum prepares us pretty much very well for real-world applications, cuz most of the time we spend it in the labs doing practical, and that's what exactly we'll have to do in so called real-world. They teach us theories, but mostly they make us do practical. Which is very much helpful. The teaching style needs no improvement. It's fine. Everyone enjoys it. The exam comes very soon. We get really less time to study. It becomes like a huge pressure in our heads. On top of that even the question papers are hard. And there is no leniency at all whole they check.

Placement Experience

2

The placement of this college is very bad. If your intention is purely to gain job experience and not money, then only opt for this college. The package offered is only 2-3lpa. Which is very low. My intention was never placement. I have plans for higher studies. That's y I choose this college for my undergrad. So that I can save money for going to a better place for my postgrad.

Fees and Financial Aid

For my admission I paid around 45k in total, which included my first semester fee. The yearly fee structure is hardly 50k. This college is very affordable. They don't charge anything extra, regardless of the category. Everyone in a department have to pay the same fee amount like the others. Students who face financial issues during the course, after a proper request and meeting with the authority, their fee is waived off. I personally know a few students. Being a Christian college, it also shows it by their work.

Campus Life

4

The college has its very own fest every year. It is really very grand. Students from different colleges come to perform and enjoy. There is dance and music throughout the day. And we end it with a Guest DJ performance. It's really great. Other small events keep on happening throughout the year. The college library is well equipped with books of different kinds. It's very well maintained and asthetic... You'll get nearly all the book you are searching for. If not, you can say it to the librarian, and she'll keep that book ready for you within a week. Every classroom is equipped with multimedia set for showing presentation within the classroom itself. Every classroom has a mic and speaker. There is annual sports every year in the college. And other inter college and extracurricular activities keep on happening every month. The students are updated with pamplets in the college notice boards and WhatsApp message. There are different clubs in college like music, dance, NSS, nature, etc. All are run by students along with the faculty. Students who wish to be a part of that club can join anytime they want. It is open to all.

Admission

Other than this college I also applied to Salesian College Siliguri. But there the couryI was searching for was missing. I did get selected in that college too, buy I cut off my name. Even salesian college is equally good like Xavier's. But the course I was searching for was missing. That's all. The admission process of my college was very simple. It was purely merit basis according to class 12th board results. They don't take any entrance exam or anything. They just select from the list of top scorers in boards. Do a small meeting with the principal. And then done.

Faculty

5

The faculty to students ratio is fair enough. There won't be a single class without a faculty inside it. There is always someone to substitute an absent teacher. The faculty to students relationship is very nice in this college. They are like friends who help us a lot academically. They are very knowledgeable and professional. They are some of the best faculties I've seen. Atleast till now I personally haven't met any faculty who is bad (in my department). There are mainly 2 exams. One is internal and one is the end sem exam. And both of them are very hard and hectic. They give very less time to study. Nearly 35-40% of students get more than 2 back papers in the exam.

Night Life

3

The college gym is really very old and useless, and no one really uses it. The cafeteria is very pocket friendly and tasty. It is always full everytime I visit. The library, cafeteria and gym opens and closes with the college timings. The campus opens at 6:30 AM and closes by 6 PM maximum. Since the college is right beside a National Highway there is no such hangout places. It's open land everywhere. Yes the locality is safe to roam around at night, since there are only small villages around and the people are very friendly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum in this college is uoto date, very relevant and with at par with the real world scenario, we learn about disorders, different schools of psychology and a lot more. There is a perfect balance of practical and theory, which is needed in psychology. In terms of improvement, there is always room for it, as of now there arent any suggestions from my side. The frequency of exams are fine, they give us time to prepare however I feel like as, according to the NEP, the semesters should be 6 months long but here they are cutting it short.

Students get placement offers in the first year of M.Stat. In general, however, most students prefer to go abroad for higher studies. Students who sit for placements mostly get placed in Finance and Analytics companies, typically in Business Analyst, Risk Analyst and other roles. ISI has a 100% placement record for B.Stat- M.Stat students. Companies like Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Co., JP Morgan & Chase, Amazon, etc. come for placements.
