Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course for first year is very general (Physics Chemistry Maths Civil Electronics Electrical etc). This might be the most difficult year because of the generality of the subjects. From second year onwards the curriculum does a very good job to provide basic understanding of principles that define the field of engineering we are pursuing, and as the semesters progress the relevance of the subjects keeps being significant. The curriculum is prety solid if studied well. The professors teaching them are not that great. They make the subject dead and boring. Only focussing on the important questions. The frequency of exams is once in approximately one and half month, The internals exams are going to be very easy and scoring while the Semester end is difficult and unpredictable. You get a leave of about half a month to prepare for the final semester end exams.

Internships Opportunities

5

The companies that offer internships are HPE (40k/month), JPMC (not disclosed), EdgeVerve (20k/month), LouisaAi (25k/month WFH), Maersk (40k/month), Thomson Reuters (40k/month), EdgeVerve Testing (10k/month), QuestKart (10k/month), Sclera (10k/month), Semnox (15k/month), Capilary(40k/month), Juniper (30k/month), DevRev (40k/month) and many more. All of them offer developer/analyst role for interns and the work culture is said to be very good. They have a high chance of conversion and offer decent benefits to interns. There are also some companies like IBM that hire only for internships and doesnt have a PPO, the stipend is 30k/month. Nutanix also has a reputation for bad conversion ratios about 30%, they provide a stiped of 40k/month, Outcomes provide a stipend of 25k/month. For core branches they also have NVIDIA, Samsung, and Texas Instruments that provides great stipends. I was a part of the HPE CTY internship and was tasked with autoscaling using kuberneted based on custom metrics.

Placement Experience

5

Students are eligible for placement from the 6th semester. One major company that comes in the 6th semester is Edgeverve a wholly owned subsidiary of Infosys. It offers 8LPA/4LPA based on the role and employs a lot of people. Many other companies like Twilio,Louisa, HPE , JPMC come for Internships in the 6th semester. Apart from this full fledged placement begins in the 7th sem where companies like DE Shaw, Oracle, JPMC, HPE, London Stock Exchange Group, Thomson Reuters, Capillary, Outcomes, LouisaAi, DevRev, Tismo, Wipfli, Ribbon, Dover, Samsung Electronics, NVIDIA,Mercedes Benz,Daimler Trucks, Lumen, Infineon Technologies being the major companies. All MRCs come to the college like LTIMindtree, L&T technology, Cognizant, Wipro, Infosys, TechMahindra, CapGemini offering various packages. NMAMIT also has special international placements because of its very strong relationship and presence in japanese companies. Several japanese companies come to the campus for placement and have a minimum package of 24LPA, with all the facilities provided. Students must register with zenken to avail japanese placements. The average package for companies that are not MRC is about 10LPA. MRCs have various roles on offer for the students ranging between 4-8 LPA. The placement percentage varies from department to department, where some departments have 100% placements, where as others have 75-80% placement I have received a job and I'll be joining it in january.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fees i paid was 85000 for the first year (included first year extras about 15000), but from second year the fees was about 73000 per year. This was without any reservation and scholarship through KCET. Now they have stopped accepting KCET and only accept through NUCAT. The fees is about 200000/year(without scholarship) with scholarship about 1Lakh/year.

Campus Life

5

Incridea is the flagship fest of NMAMIT. It consists of various events, both technical and non technical activities. The concerts are very fun and very well done. The organisers put a lot of effort into it, it has stars and celebrities and has a whole lot of vibe. The collections of books in the library is vast and the staff is generally rude if you are using a phone but if not then they are just fine. If any particular book is not available in the library an e-book will be provided if not the hard copy is made available asap. The classrooms are basic and have Air conditioners, projectors, podium and mics, The benches are very comfortable and have enough lighting. ACs are off on tuesdays. The sports infrastructure is world class. They have a world class gym that has all the facilities, you have to work out in the basic gym for a month or two to get access into the world class gym. It is clean, and the staff are very very friendly. They motivate you and inspire you, take you to competitions if you are interested etc. The cricket stadium is the crown jewel of NMAMIT, it is KCA approved stadium that has turf and world class pitch equipped with pavillions and various other provisions. It is truly a class above the rest. The football grounds are okay, decently maintained but the football team is one of the best in the state. They also have a hockey ground. The staff in PE are usually very good and supportive. There are various student run groups, websites, clubs for about anything. There are telegram channels and websites to access previous year question papers, and study material. It also has AeroClub, which is one of the best clubs in its category along with various other clubs like shipwright club, acting club, language specific clubs, photography club, writing club, Development related clubs. All these clubs are great to find like minded people who have similar interests as you

Hostel Facilities

5

The room has very basic facilities. It has 2 beds, 2 chairs, 2 study tables, 2 tubelights, 1-2 fan depends on your choice (paid), an attached bathroom if you choose it (paid) and an air conditioner if you pay for it. The washroom is very clean and well maintained. It has a western toilet along with a showerhead and jetspray. Theres a mirror in the washroom and a wash basin. It is very well maintained, you can call the hostel staff for cleaning the room and they'll do it happily. The morning breakfast varies day by day, it can be idli-vada, masala dosa, sewige uppit, tomato bhath, chole bhature, bread-jam with cornflakes and mung bean sprouts, along with tea and coffee(daily) The lunch is usually basic white rice ,boiled ,rice ,sambar, dal ,vegetable sabzi, papad daily along with egg(if chosen) and curd. Snacks are usually good and can be anything from the choices, golibaje, vadapav, pav bhaji, pastry, biscuits, egg puff, veg puff, cream bun, vegetable podi, chattamabade, buns etc. Dinners are usually decent but not great. It's very heavy and it ranges from panneer dishes, mushroom dishes, rice, rasam, dal, chicken dishes(if chosen), chapati, parota, butter milk. There are various pgs available too like kateeleshwari and foodland pg, but i preferred staying in hostel

Admission

I applied to various other colleges like Nitte Meenakshi Institute of technology, but i chose NMAMIT because of 2 major factors 1. Better Placements: NMAMIT has better placements compared to NMIT. It offers better pay, companies and good support and also has an incubation centres for startups to get started and going. 2. Better Hostels I heard from many people that the hostels in NMIT are not good. NMAMIT has very hygienic and good hostels with great food and affordable pricing. The hostels have all the facilities like washing machine for 40/- per wash, along with many others like Wifi, Ironing, Air conditioner(if needed)

Faculty

5

The faculties are very approachable and friendly. Every semester is divided into 3 internal exams and 1 semester end exam and lab exams if applicable. The internals are very easy and scoring, its for 20 marks. 2 internals are given for 20 marks each and another 10 marks is for task. 20/50 must be obtained in this, if failed to do so they provide you with another internal exam where the marks will be rounded to 20/50 no matter how much you score in that. The semester end exam is for 100 marks and a minimum of 40 marks must be obtained in this. Pro Tip: Score well in Internals(Very easy) and relax for the final exams. The total grade is given as a combination of 50% internal and 50% semester end exam. The SGPA is based on this final mark obtained.

Night Life

3

The night life is basically non existent especially if you have no two wheeler. If you want to join NMAMIT as a hostelite, just get a two wheeler. Two wheeler opens a range of new experiences especially when it comes to night life. The hostel has a strict 9.15 pm intime i.e no entry after 9.15pm, but theres not much to do in nitte at night, all shops barring a few bars and restaurants close at 9.15. The locality is extremely safe to roam at around night. It's full of trees and makes for a very good place for walks, rides and jogs. If you have a two wheeler however, you can go to manipal to pubs etc to have some fun. Famous hangout spots include Vijjus, Ratna, Anand, Mayura, Rockside. Nearby cafes are sanmati cafe, they also have bakeries nearby which are decent

Other Applied Colleges

Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology - [NMIT] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Science and Engineering)

Because of lack of good placement and the fact that the hostels are poorly maintained

Placement Experience:

Placements at RNS Institute of Technology are good. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th or 7th semester. Many companies visit the college, including IT and core companies. Some of the common recruiters include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and a few core companies for EEE. The average package is around 3 to 5 LPA, and higher packages are also offered for top-performing students. The highest package can go much higher depending on the company. Around 70–80% of students get placed, mainly in IT roles. For EEE students, core placements are limited, but there are good opportunities in software roles. The college also provides training and support for placements. After completing my degree, I plan to get placed in a good company and build my career.

Most of the students get placed from the campus placements. Students get eligible for campus placements from the fifth semester. Companies like HP, Infosys, Wipro come for recruiting and make offers from 3L per annum to 30 L per annum. Around 70 percent of the students get placed through campus placement. I plan on working for a dream company after completing my degree.

Placement Experience:

I applied to colleges like BMSIT and Sir MVIT, and I had confirmed seats there, too. I chose RNSIT because it has a better reputation for placements in my branch and the campus environment felt more welcoming. I didn't get into RVCE because my KCET rank wasn't high enough for their top branches, as the competition was very tough that year. The admission process is simple. They mainly take students through KCET and COMEDK. You need at least 45% in your 12th boards (PCM). Most students prefer KCET because the fees are lower. Once the seat is allotted through counseling, you just visit the campus, submit your documents, and pay the fees. The whole process was quite smooth and well-organized."

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is very unique, and very new, we are not taught irrelevant subjects and topics like every university does, Polaris school of technology (PST) is a new gen college which mainly focuses on tech, producing the best engineers not amongst india but amongst the world, it's aim is to produce engineers who are better than IITians and MITians, all these specifications influenced me to choose this course/curriculum When it comes to real-world applications, Polaris school of technology(PST) gives us real-life problems and scenario based projects through evaluations which help us in the future and helps us to build a proper approach for problems and train us to be the best. We have two main exams per sem which would be conducted every 3 months that is ½th of the sem, we have a total of 8 sems, so total 16 exams, our exams would be difficult for other college students, but not for us as we have the best mentors.
