Course Curriculum Overview

3

The core course of applied mathematics are good, but there is no inclusion on proper numerical mathematics subjets. More courses of Statistics and Probability and the inclusion of CS courses for electives would help the students industry relevant.

Internships Opportunities

1

There are 0 internships for students studying MSc in SVNIT. Placement itself is a big achievement for students studying MSc, Internships are pure nightmares. Students do apply for Summer internships in other NIT or IIT by themselves without any support or help from the campus.

Placement Experience

1

Department of Mathematics, also other sciences, have the worst placement than a teir 3 college. Just placing 16 students of 54 with average salary of 3.8 lakh per anum, with just 4 students as SDE and rest are Business Development Associte (Telesales - Call people to enroll into their institute). The irony is the BDA roles which offer the same salary for teir-3 BSc degree outside visit us and the CDS office soo lazy that it can't even arrange such roles for other students in the class. JOIN MSC MATHEMATICS (Physics and Chemistry too) IF YOU WANT TO PURSUE PHD, NOT FOR PLACEMENT.

Fees and Financial Aid

The MSc Maths program at SVNIT is a good course designed to provide students with deep understanding of Mathematical Concepts and their applications. The tution fee for the course is 362500 which covers the cost of tution, and other essential services provided by the institution. In addition to the tution fee, student may also be required to pay minmal charges for caution fee, registration fee, etc. The placemrnt for the MSc Mathematics batch 2019-24 is worse. The average slary offered is around 380000 per annum, placing just 16 of 54 students, irrelevant to the study, most of the roles offered are Business Development Associate Roles (Tele-Sales Roles) with just 4 students placed for a 5 LPA SDE role. SC/ST students have few scholarships, which they can apply throuhgh NSP Portal.

Campus Life

3

We have a Freshers party named KASHISH held in the month of October, SPARSH the biggest event which runs for 3-4 days which includes Celebity Night, Singing Night, Dancing Night and DJ Night in the month of March evry year. MINDBEND the biggest techno fesr in Gujrat hppens in SVNIT every year. Many small events like SHAMIYANA, SPICMACY, and many clubs organise events all round the year.

Admission

I've got into B.Tech courses like CSE in other NITa and also Universities like Andhra University, JNTU Hyderabad and Osmania University, but my interest on Mathematics made me choose this course, but the curriculum and the placement of the course has disappointed every one who do join without prior knowledge. JEE-Mains is the onlly way to get into this college (any NIT), cutoffs for MSc Mathematics for the last student entering into the class is as high as 80000 in Open Category, few students who rank good and choose mathematics as interest, like me, are less.

Faculty

3

There are 17 faculty for 54 students, which is typically 1 faculty for every student (in by batch), the batch size is almost 1.5 times than ours currently. Faculty like Dr. Jayesh, HOD of Department of Mathematiccs, is so student fridenly, listens and provides solution to every problem the Deaprtment have. Special mention about Dr. Twinkle R Singh, the most beloved faculty of Department of Mathematics, often often call her "The Mother" who understands and takes students always. Also, experienced faculty like Dr. Shukla and Dr. Pradhan adds up the department core to a higher value. Faculty named Dr. Neeru Adlaka, (wife of a renowed Mathematics Professor and Researcher) have zero subject knowledge on the course she teaches, most of her work is a copy of her husband's work (also papers on her name were written by her husband, he also includes her name in every research he does which made her a "PROFESSOR"). Exams are all expected moderate to diffucult which reflect from the classes taught.

Night Life

1

The Central Library of SVNIT is huge in space and knowledge. The Cafeteria is decent where students hangout the most during the lecture breaks, with decent food available. The gym is not well equipped but a normal decent strength and cardio workouts can be done with the ammenities it have. There is no public area except the Lan near the front gate, which is always crowded and filled with cringe couples romancing. SVNIT have NO NIGHT LIFE. Students need to get into campus before 10 or they'll be left left till 4:30 am when the main gates open. Roaming around Cmpus after 10 for girls is not allowed and boys can roam(inside the campus) but not in large groups.

I opted for BSc BIOTECHNOLOGY because of my interest. The field of Biotechnology was blooming. Faculty are good in number. One faculty for each subject. Wide ranges of subject are included in curriculum. BSc is in three subjects - BIOTECHNOLOGY, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE and HEALTH-HYGIENE. Teachers are generally freshers but they stay atleast for a year. Few teachers also have a doctoral degree and are expertise in their field. Timely assignments and seminars are conducted. 30% is internal marks. Semester internal as well as external exams are conducted. Exams are moderate. It covers esay to difficult questions. If well prepared, you can pass easily.
