What Students Say
Likes
- It's not that strict, the faculty is lenient and helpful, they give you space to breathe.
- My classroom hai 2 AC. Every classroom in my building has AC and good ventilation. It's comfortable to study.
- The building and the infrastructure is historical, it feels great to be a part of such a beautiful campus with a lots of history.
Dislikes
- As of now. I'm loving every bit of my college. It's the exact college life anyone would dream of.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chosed BBA cuz it's the best replication of MBA. BBA is more practical in teaching rather than theory. It trains us on how to become managers. BBA makes us confident people with broad knowledge and real-life examples and case study solvings. The improvement they can make is provided proper articles pdf for us to prepare for exams, rather than different different articals from different book/website reference. Other than this everything is fine about my curriculum.
Internships Opportunities
The college does not provide any internship as of now. But other college can provide internship within outlr campus. But there is a placement cell in the college, which makes sure there is fair placement opportunities atleast.
Placement Experience
Since I've plans for higher studies, I did not come to this college seeing about its placement. But according to my knowledge, this last month, a lot of students got good placement in good companies with average of 3-4lpa. But none of BBA students got placement. And I'm a first semester BBA student, that's sad. Hopefully by the time I reach my last year, my friend gets placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
For my admission I paid around 42,000 which included my first semester fee, and admission fee. For my second semester I'll have to pay around 30,000. For registration under Calcutta University, I had to pay like 50-60 rupees. There in no difference in the college fee whether we are general catering, St, Sc, etc. I also had to pay a fee of rs.1500 for a certificate course on GDP, which will be held online during the weekends. I joined college this year itself, so as of now I'm not aware about any scholarships, etc.
Campus Life
The college had its own fest once upon a time, but it was during the time when student union used to run the college. Currently the only event we celebrate is Christmas and other main days... The Library is well equipped with many books with different taste. Every classroom has AC and there are water cooled filter in every corner. The campus is very much liveable... There are interested departmental competition like football, chess, etc. There are different clubs like music club, dance club, sports club, etc. I did not register to any of the clubs yet tho, currently I'm not interested.
Admission
I applied only in Scottish Church College, Kolkata. I did not apply for any other college because my aim was fixed. I had it in my mind that I want to study in Kolkata. I did not apply for other good college like St. Xavier's because it is exactly like school, very strict, no space to breathe. And the other is bhawanipur education society because that college is very useless, no rules and regulations at all. I did not want to destroy my life. But Scottish Church College is a perfect blend of lenient and strict.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is fine. No class stays empty. There is always someone to substitute. The relationship between both are like mentor plus friend. It's the best. The best faculty I like is mr. Pinaki Mandal. The way he teaches and his friendliness makes his class the best. Infact the whole class likes him. The faculty I don't like is my Constitutional Value teacher. I don't know his name, sorry. He just comes and narrates big big articles, we have to write it down. And the class ends. No explanation, nothing. There is 2 exams, in a semester. One is internal, and the other is the main end semester exam. Both of them are easy and scoreable if you study properly. If the examiner is our own college teachers, they are mor lineant in checking the paper.
Night Life
The college has a gym, but timing is good only for students who live in hostel or somewhere near the college, it's a very odd timings. The are 2-3 canteens inside the campus, it's very much affordable. It has also got its own book store, that's very helpful. My classes are from 11am till 5:30 pm maximum. We get a break of 30 mins. But if needed, you can leave home early by informing the faculty. The faculty is very understanding. The locality is safe. Going inside the campus is not allowed after college timings, but outside the campus there are many street food stalls, there is also a park with lake just in front of the college.
