Course Curriculum Overview
The course that i got offered at vivekananda college was B.A program in Computer science and economics. i liked the curriculum as it gave an opportunity to students with non maths background to study computer science and economics, which is a wonderful combination of subjects. the curriculum teaches you a wide range of subjects in the world of computer science. in the first year you start with the basics of codinv like python and c++ (programming languages). the second year can get a little tough as it teachers you how the world behind the computer works. third year you get involved in the contemporaries like Artificial Intelligence and learn more about algorithms. Teaching methods could be better with better functioning labs and PCs. not many PCs/systems work in the computer labs hence, it makes it difficult for all the students to practice. The frequency of exams is not much. infact it could be much in order for us to be in practice.
Fees and Financial Aid
The detailed fee structure for the year depends upon the course. In B.A program it is 13,659rs per year. Registration fee for my college was 1100rs and the fee structure included tuition fees for general category. Fees for B.Com program varies between 15k-20k per year. There are no merits or scholarship provided by my college in particular. The fee structure is highly economical in line with university of delhi's public institution model. It caters particularly to middle income families. The college provides detailed fees structure for each course during admissions. The college tuition fees: 180rs college student welfare fund: 2800rs college development fund: 5880rs college facilities and service charges: 2500rs college caution money: 2000rs all this is for the general category only.
Campus Life
There are not many fests or activities around campus. there are many clubs and societies that are only functional when the fests happen that is in December, January and February. there are no active fests or interactive social settings. there are workshops being held and speakers being called but its not what the students want and more of what the college can offer well in its abilities
Admission
I was keen on getting into any college of university of delhi. i got admission in this college at the very end of the admission rounds. this looked like a good college considering the course i got offered and the campus. The admission process is based on your CUET merits and 12th class board exams result
Faculty
The faculty of the college is decent. there is not much of a competitive environment among the students academically. There is less of academic upliftment. Faculty to student ratio can be very less as there is very less faculty. the teachers teach 2-3 subjects at once with less efficiency and attentiveness.
Night Life
The college has one canteen and thats all. there are not much attractions around the college as its off campus. there are a few coffee shops behind the college but thats it. There is no hostel hence there is no night life as such in the college either.
