Remarks

Postives:- 1. Immense amount of freedom is present, this further can be used for competition exams preparation. 2. College is present in the industry hub so industrial visit can be done quite easily. 3. The brand image of NIT gives access to lot of companies & alumni. Negatives:- 1. Lots of politics which is rather unpleasant. 2. Placement session is biased and irregular.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course Curriculum is good but honestly it's a bit outdated. The course needs to be reviewed and updated according to the latest industy trends and there is specific need to inculcate programming concepts to boost the employability of students in a variety of sectors. Exam structure in college is as follows:- Mid term :30marks (2hrs pen and paper exam) End term : 50marks(3hrs pen and paper exam) Assignments:10 marks(5 assignments given and average is taken and normalized to a score of 10) Quiz : 10 marks (average taken for 10 quizzes and normalised to score of 10) Note :Exams are not very tough and any student who studies daily can easily get top scores. Portion is more about what is covered in classes.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placement statistics in institute is good only for selective branches like CSE and ECE where in there are lot of companies coming to campus for hiring, you can get good packages avg about 8-9 lpa if you are from above branches. But placement of branches like Metallurgy, Civil, mechanical, industrial engineering etc are not very good. Infact if you are a good student, you can get placed at better packages other colleges anywhere else. The placement rules are incredibly hazy and your future can get pretty screwed up if your student coordinator wants that to happen. The training and placement committee is filled with people who know little of the industry. If you're a color blind person , they will make you ineligible for any core company placement.* According to placement stats an average placement package is 7lpa but it's fake I tell you average is 4-4.5lpa. This is because college considers the CTC offered from 2nd year as placement salary. College does provide internship opportunities. But it's limited like roundabout 1-2 companies come and offer internship with stipend. As for internship I got selected in a core company and did a summer project with them. As for placement I got placement in a core company offering 4lpa CTC, but my college considers it 6.5lpa as according to it ,thats what the company offers from 2nd year. So yeah it's pretty screwed up and I would recommend people to stay away from this college if placement is your focus area.

College Events

3.5

The events are as follows:- Sports Fest (urja):- Mediocre sport facilities present so events are not very well organized. Technical fest (ojass):- descent but not the best in class. Cultural fest (Cult fest):- definitely a let down . Lots of politics you wish never to be a part of.

Fee Structure And Facilities

2.4lpa for general candidates. So as per this the college doesn't quite provide the best in class facilities be it in labratory, gym or any sports complex. So as per general candidates the fee structure is on the expensive side.

Fees and Financial Aid

1.Mali Mastan scholarship is offered to students with good academic & sports performance. 2.Cummins scholarship for economically poor. 3. Opjems scholarship is for branch toppers. 4.Ongc scholarship for economically poor students.

Campus Life

2

Labs are really bad , if you're a student from a school with good labs , get ready to see outdated, old and non functional items on a regular basis. Sports isnt quite good as there is a lack of trainers, sports complex lacks the infrastructure. Extracurricular activities like teams:- Phoenix, drift, daksh are active and students present in these teams work hard and win events, this can be considered as a positive.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostels are very good. There is good flooring present and rooms are spacious and well ventilated. But the bathrooms/washrooms are not quite clean. There is no functional water purifier, so students opt to buy water from private vendors. No gym facilities as such. A rating of 2.5/5 describes the whole senario in general.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are friendly and helpful, they will let you know about college senario and tell you of the perils they faced. This culture is very good and helpful for any junior as such. Alumni on the other hand are also hepful in case of information regarding preparation for external exams, but they are of little help in case of job hunting.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty needs to updated according to the industry trends. There is need to bring in faculty with industry experience rather than a PHD. The faculty in Nit Jamshedpur needs to involve more students into activities like entrepreneurship and research activities. The paper publishing trend has to improve and more quality content should be encouraged. The faculty should follow with the current rules and not change rules according to their convenience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

7th Semester students become eligible for placements. The highest package is offered by Rubrik in 2025 of 1.41 CR(domestic) High paying jobs are mostly for SWE/SDE roles. Percentage of students getting placed in CSE/AIML is 75, ECE 69, EEE 60, Mech 58. My plans after gettting degree is to get into job sector only for a while. No such higher education plans as such.

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

From 5th Semester onwards student are eligible for internship but from 7th semester they are allowed to sit in campus. Various companies like PayPal, Wipro , cognizant ,TCS ,Genpact ,Amdocs etc. Highest Package this year is 35 lpa and Average Package is around 7.5 lpa. Around 90% of students from circuital branch and around 80% students from non-circuital branch has been placed so far this year. My plan is prepare very smartly for campus placements and bag a very good PPO from are tech based company.

At BIT Mesra for our departments many cpre companies like Tatva Chintan, Laxmi Organics and Kanoria Chemicals were among some listed companies that came for placements. Luckily we are less in numbers and therefore 90% students from our batch were placed from here. My plans after getting the degree is to pursue masters from US.
