Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum maintains exceptiopnally high standards with a comprehensive system. Students face weekly international examintaions (precisely class test as being an autonomous university papers are chjecked by faculty members only) every Monday, ensuring continuous evaluation and engagement with the coursework. Each paper includes two internal assessments of ten marks each throughout the semester, culminating in a final examination of 30 marks per paper. The curriculum is intentionally challenging and demanding, designed to thoroughly test students' understanding and capabilities. Due to the programs's rigorous nature and high academic standards, achieving top grades requires dedicated effort, consistent study and thorough preparation.

Placement Experience

5

There is a cent percent placement in this course of my university, though there is no placement after ther end of the Bachelors Course. Students are considered eligible from the third semester of Masters course for campus placements. Renowned companies like TCS, Amazon, etc. have had made offers to our students. The highest being thirteen lakhs poer annum offered last year and the average being six lakhs per annum. Hundred percent of students sitting for the placement gets placed at the compaies. My plan afte completing the Bachelors is to continue my studiees further, and apply for the Masters degree from my very own university.

Fees and Financial Aid

Jadavpur University, being a public fund university has its pros and cons, but the best part of this university is the afoordability of its courses. The fees structure being the same for all category students, though a lesser is fee is taken while submitting the form for the admission test. The fees structure being like this: First Year Fee Structure: - Admission Fees: ?100 - Tuition Fees: ?900 - Sports Fess: ?100 - Library Deposit: ?50 - Session Cgharges: ?50 - Registration Fees: ?25 - Health Card Fees: ?20 - Grand Total: ?1245 And for the next consecutive two years, the fee structure remains the same. Second and Third Year Fee Structure: - Tuition Fees: ?900 - Session Charges: ?50 - Grand Total: ?950 Government scholarships, both Central and State, is available for students of all categories.

Campus Life

5

Overall experience of JU campus is undoubtedly the best in Kolkata and surely one of the best in India. The Jadavpur University annual fest namely, "Sanskirti" is held three times by three faculties of the university (Arts, Science and Engineering). Its held between Febryary and March adn adll three of them altogether goes on for a month. Except that there are other events too: - Srijan: Flagship event of the Engineering faculty. - Young Economists Students Meet: Flagship Event of our very own Economics department. - Shringaar: Flagship event of GFM Conoisseurs of Jadavpur University. - Ibtida: Flagship event of all the clubs of Jadavpur University. The Central Library and all the departmental librarieas have access to all the study materials, previous year question papers as well as national and international books and journals. Thre are plenty technolgical facilities including modern labs. Sports is encouraged very much here, with the university organising sports furing the fests annualy. Also the university consists of national level teams of Footaball, cricket, Basketball,Volleybvall, Rugby, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Badminton, Swimming, etc. There are plenty of clubsa and socities too, including Music, Dance, Debate, Photography, Mountaineering, Fashion and Modelling, Finance, etc.

Admission

I applied for another university in Kolkata only for B. Sc. in Economics course atr Presidency University and got a confirmed admission too. Though I preferred to choose Jadavpur University, as it had been a dream since childhood, and practically speaking cost effective in both affordability and travelling cost also the main reason being it one of the mostb reputed organisation not only across the nation but also across the globe. No, mny application was not rejected by the other college authority. The admission process in Jadavpur University is simple with an admission examination, which comprises of Higher-Secondary Mathematics and Logical Reasoning, the weightage of the examination being fifty percent and the rest being the marks attained in Class 12 boards examination.

Faculty

4

Approximately, there are around 20 professors and assistant professors withb multiple PhD scholars to help them. Overall faculty is good, but the Macroeconomics paper needs some better professors. Yet the faculty is star-studded with some professor of international demeanour also. Both professors and assistant professors are very much approachable and there exists a healthy stuudent-teacher relationship. The course curriculum is in line with international standard and syllabus, covering vast areas of Economics helpful enough to get a solid start in the Masters course. There are two class tests of ten marks each for every subject per semester and one final examination per semester of 30 marks per paper. The difficulty level is tougher than the rest of the colleges/universities of West Bengal.

Night Life

5

Jadavpur University nightlife is highly famous among the teenagers and young adults of this city. There ar atleast three to four gyms outside and nearby the university campus and one inside the campus too. The eateries and cafeterias outsdie the campus are both affordable as well as good. The most famopus being the Shyamal Da Tea Stall and the Indo-Tibetan eatery, Shipping de Long. Hostel and Campus gates closes at 10 PM, but two of the five campus gates remains open for 24 hours. The university is a famous hangout spot in itself though among other famous hangout places near the campus is the Jadavpur 8B Bus Stand Market, Soutch City Mall, Lords' Crossing, etc.

Other Applied Colleges

Presidency University | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Economics)

I didn't opt for this college as it was far from my place and I got selected in a more reputed place.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are several prospects, especially peer-to-peer counseling, where you get a mentor. We call it mentor mentee program. So, there will be groups of students, and each group will have a mentor who helps you whenever you face any issues whether in real life or in your academic journey. They’re always there for you. There are also remedial classes, and extracurricular activities are included in the curriculum. You even get the freedom to choose what you want to pursue creatively, like joining poetry clubs and similar groups. Right now, I’m at Banaras University, and the curriculum here is really good. We have sessions on public speaking, how to conduct interviews, and many other practical skills. These are highly commendable because they help you in professional situations like the one I’m in now. However, I would say that teachers could be a bit more active with electronic tools like using PPT presentations or audio-visual methods instead long lecture sessions. As for exams, I wouldn’t say they’re too difficult because there are many weekly assessments and sessionals, which actually help you evaluate yourself better.

I used to read so many novels from my childhood and that inspired me in getting attracted to this field. We used to have the fecility of having seminar in the end of every month after compleating of each lessons. And this process helped us in true education. After every year professors from differnt parts of the country used to come for a seminer for overall groth of the students. Actually is theory teaching style is followed in the college, according to me some developments in the practical teaching can be used. Semister is held at the end of every six months and the exams are used to be moderate in nature.
