IEM - The Last but Not the Least to chose

IEM tends to be the oldest private institue of Kolkata with the Computer Science Department being the oldest and the most renowned. Apart from that, the college also provides best Internship Opportunities, corporate exposure. The institute tends to provide best industrial Exposure and opportunities. The exams conducted here are descent and maintain standards, if you get proper notes and understanding of the concepts, the exams will be cleared easily.

The placement scenario of this institute is also very descent as compared to other private institutes and also the students becomes eligible from semester 6 for placements, more generally , from third year they become eligible for sitting in placements. Companies like IBM, ORACLE, JUSPAY are the ones who provide very descent packages of around 8-9 lpa and then comes mass recruiters like ACCENTURE, INFOSYS, COGNIZENT, TCS offering an average of 5-6 lpa. Around 90 percent students got placements and they also appear for more than onne or two companies and also appear for higher studies.

The college provides best opportunities to the students. The average fees structure for engineering is 8 lakhs for 4 years and for getting in the college, it needs a good score in the joint examinations, for example, you need to have a rank of 3500 or below in the west bengal joint examination for getting computer science here, well there are also reserved seats for those who want direct admission here, but the fee becomes higher for them, like on an average, direct admission requires an average payment of 6 to 7 lakhs minimum for booking the seat in departments like computer science and its sub branches. Also other branches like IT, CSE AIML, CSE AI needs to have somewhat same score but the competition is lower as compared to CSE core. The registration fees is about 1 lakh or so, also tutition fees is 5 lakhs and the rest is 2 lakhs, and all total 8 lakhs. The college also provides scholarship opportunities for students having financial difficulties or having long term medical issues.

The overall experience in this college is descent, since this college has the overall focus on Academics, cultural activities like singing, dancing, drama, sports and all. All kinds of books starting from childern stories to high research paper lecture notes are available in the all time open library which remains open 24*7*365.

Other colleges like IITs and NITs and Jadavpur university, are some of the universities with best placement and other opportunities, but the computer science department of IEM is also in par with these institutes based on some aspects, and again, it is the student who can do better, wherever they place themselves, but IEM tends to be more strict academically. Due to lower score in examinations, people tend to select IEM as the last best option, which is worth it also, if you are determined enough.

The faculty to student ratio is descent, since there are plenty of faculties coming from good backgrounds to teach into this college. The student to faculty relationship is pretty descent, students always tend to clear their doubts and discuss about new projects for their development. The faculties are also helpful and help the students for their doubts and projects. Some faculties are highly experienced and senior like Kamakhya ghatak, AKC sir, who are both IIT alumnus and there are few more faculties in the computer science department who are industry experienced and they work alongside teaching also, hence providing a good exposure for both. The examinations happening are very frequent and you will be facing more number of exams compared to other institutions, for example, the last 2 months of each semester is only for conducting exams, in each semester, on an average, a student has to write 30 exams, and in 8 , it is more or less 250+.

The night life is very descent due to the location it is at. The college is located at the main hub of kolkata, hence there are various hang out places, gym, indoor playgrounds near the college campus, where at night, students can enter with proper IDs and have fun.
