What Students Say
Likes
- The teaching style and the organization of the first year academics.
- The PG selection ratio in the college is high above the other colleges of the state .
- The affordability over other private colleges. Being a private college the fee charges are still less than expected
Dislikes
- The infrastructure is not upto the mark .
- The college does discriminate on basis of your identity.
- Some kind of nepotism also exists and that messes up the environment
Course Curriculum Overview
Yes it's pretty relevant they follow the new CBME issued by the NMC and it's in line with the PG syallabus and entrance exams as well . What they could change though is the teaching methods and how to be more interactive with students
Internships Opportunities
You can do internship in the college hospital for a year and the stipend is about 13k monthly. You will be posted in various departments which is gonna change on a monthly or weekly basis. You may also be sent to Community health center for some time
Fees and Financial Aid
ASCOMS is a semi- goverment medical college in the J&K ( Sidhra Jammu ). I am a first year student and almost in the end of first year. So I consider myself credible enough to write a review. I would rate every aspect of the college on the scale of 1 to 10 based on my personal experiences - 1.Academics - 7 /10 well trained and experienced faculty adds to the score . 2. Infrastructure - 6 /10 Not as you expect in a private college but also the fees is less than a normal private college. 3. Sports - 4/10 Sports leagues organised by seniors but minimal involvement of college . 4. Affordability - 7/10 For a private college it's a much more than affordable. 5. PG Selection - 8 /10 as patient flow is less you get ample time to prepare for Pg entrance. 6.worth it - 7/10 based on all factors
Campus Life
There are no clubs and stuff the social life is zero it's more like a school to be honest. There is only one cultural event that is the freshers nothing else. There are so local cricket tournaments which are held by seniors and no involvement of college
Admission
I choose this college because of the affordability and distance from my home over other private colleges and also keeping in mind it has one of the best PG selection ratios in the state. Compared to other colleges it has a better PG selection ratio but it lacks extracurricular activities and other stuff. The admission process is quiet simple you just have to follow the Bopee instructions as they conduct the counseling
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is about 100:5 per department. They are not completely approachable but pretty helpful when they are. Renowed Dr. VJ chrungo is HOD Biochemistry. There are 2 terminal exams and 1 send up conducted by college before the university of jammu conducts proofs.
Night Life
There is NO light life . The hostels close at 8 pm and you aren't allowed to go out. Favourite hangout spot is a small cafeteria near the college ( bandu devi ) we call it there is no gym and the library of college closes at 4 pm only
