Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Imphal, also known as RIMS Imphal, is an autonomous medical institute established in 1972. The institute is affiliated with Manipur University and is recognized by the NMC (National Medical Commission). According to the IIRF 2024 reports, the institute ranks at 95 under the ‘Medical’ category and as per Collegedunia, the institute ranks at 303 for 2025 under the ‘Medical’ category. It offers admission to various UG, PG and Diploma programs in various specializations of the Medical field.

RIMS Imphal Admission 2025

RIMS Imphal offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programs, such as MBBS, BDS, B.Sc Nursing, MD/MS (various specializations), PG Diploma, M.Ch, DM, M.Phil, BASLP and more. RIMS Imphal admission for various medical courses is conducted based on the entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Given below are the admission process for different programs:

MBBS Admission: Must qualify NEET-UG with the required cutoff percentileDomicile Requirement. MBBS seats at RIMS Imphal are primarily reserved for candidates who are bona fide residents of Manipur or other North Eastern states (including Sikkim). Candidates from other North Eastern states are eligible, but candidates from outside these states are generally not eligible for MBBS admission at RIMS Imphal.
BDS Admission: Admission is through NEET-UG, similar to MBBS, with the same eligibility and domicile requirements.
B.Sc Nursing Admission: Requires 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. Admission is based on marks in the qualifying exam and, for some years, through the TJEE.

Life of mbbs

Likes

We are taught by experienced senikr professors.
We perform practical class everyday,and thoroughly
Teaching is done using powerpoint presentation

Class is taken 8 am to 4 pm ,for first years ,which is good though
Our class air conditioner is not quite active at the end of the course
Lunch break is only 1hr ,considering the distance between hostel and college

Student view on course curriculum and exams

Teaching are done using power point presentation, We are shown not only written word but pictures and videos which help us in better understanding of the lesson. Exams are held almost 3 months apart. Since we are given thorough pracrical classes regularly this gives us confidence in performing our duty in the real world.

Internship opportunity provided by the college and stipend

The college itself provide intership,for which students are awarded with around Rs.25000 monthly for UG The students work as a doctor and help the seniors It is very useful as the student is able to learn amny things through internship

Yearly fees structure and scholarship

Rs28000 paid as course fee and then gradually decreases,year after year . Got scholarship theough nsp and receive the amount 27000. All others fees such as tuition fees,lab fees ,sports,etc are paid separately abou.t 18000

Annual fest and various activity in the campus

Anually we celebrate Rims foundation day, where successful students are and passed out students are honoured.which is celebrated in the month of September. Rims library is present near administration block where student's can ise and read books which is available for every students and teaching facility. We can also use camputer and printer based on our needs Technicians are present which we can call everytime we face technical problems RIMS annual sports RIMSAM is held which is organised by RIMSSU, outdoor and indoor sports of different kinds are played. it is held for 1 week. we are given 1 week for preparation

Hostel facilities provided by the college

Each student is given a study table ,and chair,one steel almirah a bed ,and matress. Students can opt for either veg or non veg,hostel provides lunch and dinner Every student is to stay inside the campus so we are given seat in hostel which is arranged by our warden ,prefect and seniors. No of hostel are present inside the campus which the students are arranged based on their course and availability of the college

Student views on the faculty and exams

We are taught by experienced professors which despite their age are still enthusiastic in learning and shaping their knowledge. We are guided by very active post graduate doctors and senior residents. Internal exams are held 3 times during 1st year,one pre uni exam followed by uni exam. Viva and written part completion test are held every week.

Admission process of the college

I do not apply for another college. RIMS is indeed my first choice for learning my course. In order to get seat in RIMS, for mbbs course, I took NEET exam. which is held once every year. After getting the cutoff mark neet, I applied for state seat. the state selects students based on merit and then accordingly none of the students are given seats. The no of seats for different state may differ. After getting a seat and approval from the state, admission is done in the administration block in RIMS

This is the only college i applied for. And I'm thankful that i get to study here. To get admitted in here, we first have to clear neet and after that seat allotment will be done through state wise councelling.

Life of an Mbbs student

Likes

weather is very nice. campus is very large with big canteens , football fields, gym khana etc. Academics here is very strong and competitive
the food here is very nice, local food is something very good to taste. and the common people here are very friendly.

Dislikes

Less exposure to some cocurricular activites .
The night life is totally absent. Less tourist attraction places.

Admission:

to get into this college you need to give NEET exam, I am of unreserved category so for general the cut off was around 603-604 during my time, since I hail from one of the northeast states this college has separate seats for each northeast states, I took admission by the reserved seat of my state in that college that is by state quota. coming to admission process, documents like birth certificate, class 10 and 12 marks heat, family income were required during admission.

its a very good college...the best medical College in north east...the facilities are also good....its hostel are also very good...i m glad to be a student of this college....i make good friends in this college...its campus is also very big ....the canteen are also available....also good ....the casualty also good.... hostel meess are good....the Library and study room facilities are also available....its senior are also good... ragging is prohibited in this college... seniors are also helpful....

Neet examination out of which merit wise i took admission Application form and fees date were provided by nmc St Sc ews gets benefit The exam is taken once a year and timing is 3 hours, subjects are physics 45 questions chemistry 45 questions biology 90 questions each carrying 4 marks and on attempting as wrong will deduct 1 mark The admission would be better if it was online because its difficult to get flight ticket as time duration is less for admission

Likes

The admission process is NEET examination. Eligibility for the course is you need to be at least 12 pass. Application form is found at NMC.gov.in. application fees is around 2000. Frequency of exam is once a yea.r

Likes

Campus life is good , there is all facilities of studying and playing are present

Dislikes

The vacation given to the students are very less, even after final exam only few days are given. It it impacts students mental health.

Admission:

The admission process is done by selecting the students with an entrance exam , conducted by National Medical Council, named NEET ug. The students should apply for the exam by filling out the form that is given in the NMC website. Fixed seats are available for the students. The students with very good merits are selected and get a chance to be a govt. medical College according to their number. Exam held in 720 marks with physics (180 marks), chemistry (180 marks), and biology (360 marks). In the security of the NEET exam, there should be an improvement because in some places cheating had been caught. And in the counseling process, the procedure should be more accurate because some deserving students cannot get the seat they deserve.

No night life and no clubs or parties outside

Eligibility is neet exam qualified and the application process is done after neet result ....benefits are there for SC st OBC exams occur after each semester periodic class test also occur and at the end University examination takes place conducted by the Manipur University

Infrastructure , campus facilities offered teaching and training given .
The quality of life and picturesque campus

Dislikes

Local turmoil and ethnic clashes in and around the area
The language barrier which often impairs the communicability between people
No nightlife outside the campus after 7 in the evening

Admission:

Eligibility for admission is a 12th pass from a recognized national or state board along with qualification in the NEET IG exam ... The application form was available on the RIMS official website. The application fee was a one-time NEET via the bank of 500 rupees. The application window opens from July onwards after the NEET results are declared. NEET UG examination is conducted once every year in May for admission into medical courses across the country. The exam is fairly competitive with moderate difficulty spanned across three subjects namely physics chemistry and biology consisting of 360 questions. There are certain lapses and irregularities regarding the timing of the admission process especially in the northeast quota and ees counselling processes and notification delays which could be addressed by the authorities for a smooth and efficient admission process

College campus,classroom library facilities,faculties and help from pgs and seniors,affordable couse and infrastructure,on the basis of job related factors also satisfying salary and moreover the environment of the place
More man power helpful for the patients for getting more care and proper treatment time to time no negligence and fast and affordable treatment with adequate facilities during their stay in the hospital
College fests co curricular activities besides study trips and field visits new scopes of learning exposure to medical field clinically during postings and all scope to learn things more practically rather than only theoretical knowledge

Dislikes

Vacations and holidays are less compared to some other colleges duration can be more than the one provided now so that the students can refresh their minds

Admission:

Neet qualified Application forms is separately available on the RIMS official website after the exam during counselling and the fee is 1000 In open counseling EWS seats are there and in the state and all India counseling seats for all castes are available A counselling process which is offline can be improved

No, you will be selected for the entrance exam when you register for the same at NTA’s website. The exam will be CBT-based offline exam.
