Remarks

I had applied to KJ Somaiya, SIIB and IMT Ghaziabad, and got admission offers from all. However I chose IMT because of its reputation as a Mecca for Marketing and after being able to talk some alumni of the institute who passed out earlier. The only college I was technically rejected from was NMIMS as I did not make the cutoff for a GDPI. For IMT Ghaziabad, you could apply via CAT or XAT, I got in via CAT. This was followed by the CTPI Process which was a critical thinking written paragraph based on a relatively prevalent topic followed by a Personal Interview. To my knowledge most people got in via CAT although that is more basis conversations I have had with people and not any empirical data to support the same. The overall admission process was pretty smooth, right from document verification during the CTPI to hostel allocation, we knew what all documents to bring at what time with no last minute revision to the documents required section.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

There are approximately 60-65 students per class across 12 sections taking the total strength of the batch to somewhere around 750 people. In my specialization in particular their are around 200 people pursuing Marketing and the overall gender diversity ratio is approximately 60:40. In an address by our director, he revealed to us that their are students from approximately 25 different states and 4-5 different Union Territories in our batch and the diversity can be seen in class with people coming from Jammu to Chennai and Ahmedabad to Kolkata and even as far as Dispur, Assam. Yes, we do have peer groups in our class and while things are taught to us in class, peer learning only happens outside of it by sitting together in your own time and brainstorming/discussing subject matter and everything and anything. Yes, we do have marks for class participation in class which is good because it does generate conversation and inculcate different opinions but its a very fine line between that and the class becoming a fish market. Whilst I believe some of us do have genuine interest in the subjects being taught, majority do not attend the classes for learning and more so to just ensure they do not suffer a grade loss and are meeting the attendance criterion.

Internships Opportunities

2

No, about half the batch has been placed so far with people already looking out for outside opportunities. Most students get paid internships and my guess would be at least 70-80% do. I am not aware of the average but the highest is 2.25L/month. The preferred companies for marketing are all FMCG companies like Marico, Mondelez, Perfetti Van Melle. Natwest and Deloitte hire between 8-12 people and pay between 50-70k per month. About 20% of the batch converts the internships into PPOs.There are not many finance and banking based roles that come so it is definitely worse for them

Placement Experience

2

Final placements start in November adn about 80-85% of the people in campus get placed via it. I am not aware of any of the details surrounding average, lowest and highest as of now. The Placement Committee plays a vital role in getting these companies on board to recruit however they are not at all transparent and show a high degree of preference towards their own members and push for them to be included in GDPIs of companies at the expense of others.

Fees and Financial Aid

Overall fees for Male Students is around 21L, with 12L worth of payments having already been made. 9L is pending which will be collected in the 2nd Yr. Under a scholarship program for women, female students get a rebate of 25% at the end of the MBA Program. For the DCP Program which involves a year in the Dubai Campus of IMT, students pay close to the tune of 30L across the 2 yrs with female students in this scenario as well getting a 25% rebate at the end of the 2 yr program. I feel these fees are quite good as it is all inclusive and colleges which would even rank slightly lower like KJSIM were charging 25-26L across 2 yrs. I am not aware of whether the fees vary for different sections of society as I have no knowledge of the same.

Campus Life

2

We have gyms, football ground, basketball court, tennis court and badminton courts as well. We dont have a swimming pool however. The auditorium and libraries are both big and well maintained and air conditioned most importantly. Library is open from 7am to 6am and we have access to third party databases like the Bloomberg terminal for CFM and other relevant certifications. The distance from hostel block to academic block is very less and will hardly take 5-7mins to cover in the main campus. For CDL, which is where the first year boys stay, the travel by bus/auto is about 15 mins. No we are not allowed vehicles on the campus and no visitors cannot stay overnight and have to leave by 6pm. There is a NESCAFE on campus grounds. We have a doctor on premises for 2-3hrs each day but not a medical center as suchMost students either rest or are preoccupied with club and committee work post calsses with studies only happening when exams are near. Students go out quite often and there are many happening places outside campus like the local chai tapri called Babbars and a more happening and posh place is RDC where there are many restaurants and bars. Nescafe is open till 4/5 in the morning with lot of students frequenting it in the dark and yes lot of students do roam around post sunset. I dont think it is that safe to roam around in night outside the campus. Passion and Chakravyuh are the main events with celebrities like Local Train, Nishant Suri having performed. The most important student body I believe for a student in terms of value addition and CV Pointer is either the Student Affairs and Welfare Council or the Placement Committee. Yes there are international immersion/foreign exchange programs offered by the college. I am not aware of what the intake is and whether there is an extra fee involved.

Hostel Facilities

2

We have separate hostels for boys and girls. 5 hostels each for boys and girls. Girls can enter boy hostels but boys cannot enter girl hostel. For the first year boys are allocated hostel rooms and roommate randomly whereas for second year they can at least choose who to apply with. There are no hostel timings as such, just campus in and out timings wherein you cant exit campus beyond 10 and have to be back in campus premises before 11. Our overall fees include mess fees as well and there is no separate charge and yes we have separate canteen called Arcus. Food quality is not particularly great but it is still better than most engineering colleges. Yes the hostels have guards with a minimum of 1 guard at the reception of each hostel all times, both male and female. There has not been a major security threat in recent times.we have both single and double occupancy rooms and we are randomly allotted the same unless we specify basis some medical condition. All facilities are provided like ac, cooler, geyser, wifi etc and the quality is pretty good, a solid 7/10 overall. We have a common indoor games room which unfortunately for some of the hostels is used as a storage unit. We have common washrooms in all hostel blocks which are cleaned quite frequently and for hostel rooms we have to put our room number in the register any time before 5pm and the cleaner will then come to clean the room basis the availability. As far as I know all students stay in hostel premises bar those who are from Ghaziabad, Indrapuram, Delhi NCR Area who travel back home at times.

Exam Structure

I found out about IMT via sites like Shiksha and Collegedunia as I had searched for colleges to apply for basis the percentile I had received in CAT which was around 93 with a work ex of around 4-5 months at that point in time. I filled out the application form for IMT and got a CTPI slot of 11th Feb 2024 and in the morning slot. Our document verification and panel allotment started within 45mins-1hr of the reporting time and it was a seamless process with not much in terms of hiccups. Even people who did not have documents in their physical form were either told to get printouts from the stationery shops right below the centre, or if details were visible enough in the soft copy itself they were let off. We had a written test at first of roughly 200-250 words for which sufficient time was allotted and post that we were allotted different interview panels and serial numbers basis which we had to sit in rooms that were thankfully air conditioned ensuring that no one had a long or painful wait. The PI itself for me revolved around my graduate college life, my work experience and slightly into the domain of current affairs. The interview lasted around 10-15mins with almost all panels having 2 interviewers and around 13-15 candidates to interview in the morning slot. Post reporting at 6, I was done with all necessary proceedings by 1 and then proceeded home.

The curriculum for bfs is extremely technical and it's definitely more rigorous than other courses and hence making it tough. Students can fail in exams we have a trimester system so end term exams at the end of every term plus quizes simultaneously with the coursework we have. Usually 2 to 3 quizes per subject. Good aspect of my course is that it's extremely tailored for an aspiring finance professional and the bad is that it's little tough. Classes can be from 9 to 5, anywhere between 1to 4 or 5 classes a day. We get a good chunk of time to devote to clubs and committees and our project work and studies. Teachers refer to cases or their own material to teach. Manas paul sir is someone I admire truly the best, great at explaining everything. NR Bhustunmath sir is someone whose pedagogy didn't match with my wavelength and hence I'd say not so admired. We have 80 percent mandatory attendance and not complying with the same can lead to grade loss. I do know people who have been penalized

Course Curriculum Overview:

Mbbs is very well reputed course. It makes you a well equipped indian medical graduate helping you aquire required medical skills to work in society as clinician. It really takes into account all the challeneges that one has to face in society as a clinician. The university exams are held on a yearly basis which include both theory and practical exams. The exams are good to pass if one studies daily. The syllabus is vast but with the help of seniors you can easily ace it.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester (4th year). Few companies visit VBSPU for placements, and most are mass recruiters offering IT support and sales-related roles. Since placement opportunities are limited, only a small percentage of students secure on-campus jobs. Average Package: ~ 3-3.5 LPA Many students rely on off-campus placements through LinkedIn, referral hiring, or applying directly to companies. Many students prepare for government jobs like GATE, SSC, or banking exams. My plans after BTech Freelancing & personal projects to improve skills and build a strong portfolio.
