- The college infrastructure is very good with swimming, gym , sports complex , library and every place is nicely designed. You can never get bored here.
- There is no timing restrictions in hostel, you can roam anytime in the campus and can go out of the campus too just have to make an entry and you are free to go outside the college late at night too.
Dislikes
- The academic load here is too much , you can’t cope with it , there’s always a deadline nearing and you are always busy doing it .
- College has a plagiarism policy which is strictly followed that forbids us to copy others work so you have to always do the project, assignment, etc on your own.
Course Curriculum Overview
I guess IIIT Delhi has one of the hardest curriculum for b.tech in the country. Although the courses structure is quite relevant and productive but complex at the same time. Teaching method here is already good but the frequency of quizzes, assignments and project is much quick , like you always have a quiz in a week or an assignment to complete, no week is free here you always have a deadline coming. The exam difficulty for some courses are very high mostly for the ECE core courses . Good thing here is not every course has an attendance requirement so you can easily skip the classes , thats the only best part if you are lazy.
Internships Opportunities
This year companies like google, microsoft, salesforce, oracle, paypal, qualcomm, adobe, amazon, etc came for interns. The median stipend was 1 lac with the highest 1.5 lacs and 4.9 lacs for overseas. Major roles offered in were SDE, analyst, data science, machine learning, web development, etc.
Placement Experience
IIIT Delhi provides good on campus placement offers, but I guess due to recession the placement were worst last year. Otherwise the college has above 90% placements in each branch. Enough companies come to recruit here but you have to be skilled enough to qualify for the placement. CSSS and CSD are the worst branches in terms of placement here, but not that much as compared in general.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees is same for every b.tech student regardless of there category. Scholarships is available but only for Delhi as a home state students that too with a criteria based on income and last school fee paid. First and second semester college tuition fee was 225000 , this is charged per semester which sums to 450000 for first year. Same structure goes for rest of the semester with an increment of around 25000 per year. There are total 8 semester so final fees for whole b.tech course sums around 2000000.
Campus Life
IIIT Delhi organize three major fests and countless hackathons and events in regular intervals. The most enthusiastic fest is the Odyssey, the cultural fest of the college which is for two days with a concert in the evening for both the days. Concert artist are always some high rated performers like kr$na and sankar mahadevan performed last year. The other two are the tech fest (Esya) and sports fest (Astra). There is mostly a club for every extra curricular activities that are active and held events on regular basis.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms are quite good and clean with mostly all the facilities. AC and wifi( with a speed of around 700 to 900 mbps through LAN) are most mentionable, you can ask for room cleaning anytime in day. The washrooms are common but cleaned 3 times a day. Mess food is avg, somedays have better menu. Hostel is alloted according to the distance criteria. Mostly everyone gets the hostel who lives farther then 30 km range.
Admission
I chose IIIT Delhi because of the highly educated faculties and the facilities here. Although I would have preferred going to other NITs or even IIIT Allahabad but at 17k rank in JEE mains I managed to get ECE here at IIIT Delhi with outside Delhi and general quota. IIIT Delhi apparently had a quite nice placement history also which was a major factor choosing it. I filled up the JAC counselling which is done on JEE mains rank basis for Delhi colleges , all the process was online , there were 5 rounds of counselling which extended for a month then a spot round. After you been alloted a college and you lock the choice you have to go for a physical verification where they ask you for your documents like marksheets and medical certificate , once the verification is done you are admitted in the college and then every information is conveyed to you on your email. The admissions process was quite easy just have to fill some forms and pay the remaining fee and the hostel fees once alloted, overall it was hassle free.
Faculty
The college has a enough number of courses and professors. All the professors have quite experienced background and good in there field. Faculty from every department are mostly chill leaving the ECE department, the faculty in this department are mostly rude and strict . They don't bother about the workload or overall class performance. Almost half of the students have atleast one back in ECE department and very low grades. Although there are also some professors like Pravesh Biyani who are kind and chill type professor.
Night Life
The best part of IIIT Delhi is that we do not have any in or out timing restrictions in our hostels, you can roam or use any building or facility the whole night. The canteen is also open 24/7, but the brew bakes cafe gets closed around 8 pm. Apart from this college have two nescafe shops which is opened till late night and even sometimes for whole night during exams. College have a gym and a sports complex which is too opened 24/7.
