What Students Say
Likes
- The thing i adore the most about Rajagiri College of Social Sciences is the beautiful yet mind-blowing infrastructure. The design, color combinations used, and artistic quality with a modern approach is so innovative and creative.
- Availability of facilities is another thing that I liked about the college. Facilities such as the vending machine, rooftop cafe, RCSS life, Library and much more facilities add to the qualities of Rajagiri College Of Social Sciences.
- The standard of quality of the faculties is an important thing to mention here. The vast knowledge of the faculties and their ability to spread that knowledge with the students need to be appreciated.
Dislikes
- Although there are many good things that I like, there are things that I dislike. One such thing is the fee structure. I feel that the fee structure is a bit too much for a B.com program.
- Although there is lift, it may not work properly at times. For e.g. if we press the button and wait for the lift, it may go passing our floor.
- The distance between the boys hostel and the college is a little bit far. We have to walk about 750m to reach the college. It is a bit task to walk to the college at morning.
Course Curriculum Overview
The scope of the course ACCA(UK) is what mainly influenced me to take this course. This particular curricular has alloted the exams and classes in such a way that the students get equal time to focus on both and eases the pressure of exams. The 4 year UG course focuses mainly on experiential learning. Which means that efforts are taken to involve the students in the lecture. Active participation of students are ensured in this course that comprises of many activities. This help the students to keenly observe and experience several topics in the real world. The teaching methods are really good and the faculties are trying their maximum to make theory classes as interesting as possible to keep the students engaged in the class. Improvements can be made by working on divding the class into even more small sections so that the focus is more concentrated.
Internships Opportunities
Rajagiri College of Social Sciences provide internship oppurtunities to the students. The internship program provided by the department of statistics at RCSS provided the students with a valuable oppurtunity to gain practical experience and apply thearetical knowledge in a real world setting. Through hands on projects, workshops, and seminars, students developed essential skills and competencies that will serve them well in their future career.
Placement Experience
i am currently on 2nd semester. In my knowledge the campus placements happens during the 5th or 6th semester. There are many companies visited and many no. of offers from different companies. Companies such as HDFC bank, VI, Airtel, Apollo, Colgate, DHL, etc. According to the report, 99 UG and 277 PG students were placed during RCSS placements 2023. Since I joined the college, I started to work more on myself. My missions and visions were clear to me. It was my first time staying away from home for a long period but somehow I managed to live by myself here. The campus life is so fun and enjoyable. There are many club that focuses on different aspects but with a common goal to provide support and to create a platform for the growth of students with underrated talents. Clubs such as "ED" aka Entrepreneurial Development provide the students with business idea a platform to develop their ideas and bring that idea to life. "Splendore" is the biggest college fest that usually comes on December. The fest is a huge celebration in the college and the preperation for them has already started. It involves inviting and guiding the students from colleges across Kerala through our college. The library itself has four levels. It has a vast collection of books of several categories ranging from old to the latest ones. The classroom is spaceous and is well structured. The interior designing is classy and there is a smart board in the classroom which is used for several educational purposes including presentation. Admission
After the board exam of the 12th grade, I immediately did a research on good colleges. My focus was inside Kerala itself as it is more convinient. I applied to St. Berchmans College Changanassery, Sacred Heatrts College Thevara and Rajagiri College of Social Sciences. I attended the orientation session organised by Rajagiri college and I was quite impressed. By the grace of God, I got accepted by all of them. Out of the colleges I applied, I was keenly interested and looking forward for the offer letter from Rajagiri College of Social Sciences. The reason is that by my research, I had found out that it was the best college in Kerala for B.com degree. It even competed with the colleges outside Kerala. Moreover, it had good ranks and national accreditations. With few suggestions from relatives, I also came to know that Sacred Hearts was also a good college. I was a little confused while picking up my college. I accepted the offer letter from Rajagiri and went to the college for admission process at the date as per mentioned in the offer letter. I submitted the necessary documents and left. Later on I changed my mind and attended the admission process at Sacred Heart. At last, I changed my mind again and joined Rajagiri college which I think was the best decision I ever made in my life. The admission process was simple. We had to submit the necessary documents like 10th and 12th grade mark sheets, medical certificate, birth certificate, etc. Then we had interview with the faculty. After the cross checking was done we were directed to meet the principal. After the meeting, the measurement for uniform was taken and booked for hostel.
Faculty
The faculties are one of the main pillars of the success of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences. Each and every faculty contributes so much to the growth of the college. All the faculties I've met till now, have been very nice to me. My faculties are so nice and make the students comfortable with being open to them. Their knowledge about the subjects are really appreciable. Their method of teaching in the new 4 year UG program is really impressive and creative. They try their level best to make sure that each and every student understands the topic thoroughly. There are three exams per semester excluding acca papers. There are two internal exams and one semester exams. Other than that there are 4 professional level ACCA papers starting from the 3rd semester. There is also mock papers for ACCA.
Interview Experience
There were no special group discussion or such things. There was a meeting with the HoD and the principal. It was just a casual interview expkaining the facilities of the college and such. It was at the time of admission
Night Life
As mentioned earlier the college provides a space called the "Amigos" where the students can have fun and interact with each other after a heavy day. There is also a rooftop cafe called Skypea cafe which is an open air rooftop cafe with snacks and drinks at very affordable rates. The library consists of 4 levels. The students is offered with a vast air conditioned space where they can discuss or make group presentations together. There are 2 gyms in the college, 1 for men and other for ladies. The boys gym is situated near to the old buildig and is completely free to enter. The gym has a good trainer as well as latest equipments for body workout. The ladies gym is situated inside the college building itself at the top floor. It also posseses various gym equipments. The hostel cutoff time for boys is 8:30pm and 7:00pm for girls. The college starts at 9 o clock and ends by 4:30pm on normal days and 5:30pm during ACCA classes. There are three breaks in between including the lunch break.
Other Applied Colleges
Sacred Heart College - [SHC] | Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com] with ACCA
