Course Curriculum Overview

4

I think the syllabus and curriculum is considerably thought about. It has all the courses which prepare a student for the industry, so we can say it has an industry standard. I think the number of courses per semister could be decreased for the sake of lower stress and better learning for students. The frequency of exams and difficulty is alright.

Internships Opportunities

2

They dont provide a lot of internships, but they do sometimes and it's basically a startup that has approached the university. One, I remember was Eonify. It was a web development company. They did not provide stipened for the students.

Placement Experience

3

The students become eligible from 7th semister for the university placements. There are various companies that visit the university like TCS, Airtel, Jio, Infosys, etc. Some students do get placed at packages of around 5 LPA. My plans are to develop skills and apply for jobs outside university placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearwise course fee is approximately 35000. And the bus fee is 29000. It has been like this for a few years and i dont think its gonna change. The university offers PMSSS scholarship for BPL students.

Campus Life

4

There are a lot of fests and events organized by the university such as food fest, cultural fest, tech fest, book fest, annual day, foundation day, etc. The library is huge and has all kinds of books to offer. The classrooms are simple, but some of them have projectors. The sports tournaments are also rganized once in a while, and there are various clubs where students can join to be social.

Admission

I did not apply for any other colleges because I wanted to opt of a degree in Computer Science and IUST is basically the only university in Kashmir that offers the said course with quality. I had scored 72 %ile in JEE but that did not bag me a seat in CSE OM, so, I decided to apply for Self Finiance seat. That cost me additional 200000 INR but I did get a seat in CSE.

Faculty

4

The factulty of all the departments is highly qualified. They are graduates of IITs, NITs, AMU, JNU, and other prestegious universities. I specially like Prof.Sajad sir, dept. of CSE. He has a very unique way of teaching. There are basically 2 exams conducted for each semister. Mid sems, the question paper is objective type, of 30 marks, and the assignment is 20 marks. Fairly easy to pass. And the end semister, completely theoretical, of 50 marks, and its as well easy to pass.

Interview Experience

4

No there was no such procedure for the admission. It was completely based on the score in JEE score. I prepared for the JEE examination alongside 12th boards and was able to score 72 percentile and got the admission in IUST.

Night Life

3

The university is located in a villege, so there is not much of a nightlife. Although, the library is 24x7 open, the university has a gym for students that closes at 9pm. The campus opens at 8am and closes at 6pm. The hostel also closes entries at 6pm. The most famous place to hangout is purple cafe.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
