Dislikes
- The Psychology Faculty- It can be managed in a much more efficient manner.
- The inflexibility. The rules are too rigid. While some of them make sense, others are outright questionable.
- Changing of examination dates. Due to this a lot of people have to keep changing their tickets to go back home. They do not always follow the calendar.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is definitely relevant. Though the course is new in the country, the course will teach you about the economic aspect of the world and the psychology behind it. This course will help you if you are interested in economics but also in human behavior. At the end of the day, economics is based on people, so it is vital to understand the human psyche to understand various economic phenomena. This course provides you exactly that. The course curriculum is well-developed and changes as and when required. The examinations are standardized and application-based, ensuring learning outside of theories.
Fees and Financial Aid
For the course of BA Psychology and Economics, I paid a total of 80,000 annual fees. The original fee is 1,00,000, but Karnataka students avail this offer. My friends pay 1,00,000 as they are from other states, but the fee can be lowered using the various scholarships offered by the university. The registration fee is 1,000. For psychology labs, there are no extra fees rendered, everything is included in the package of annual fees.
Campus Life
The overall campus life is amazing. It is lively and always vibrant. There is always a stall promoting social welfare or child welfare. There is also Bhasha Utsav where we celebrate all the ethnicities and races making the campus dazzling. The library has many essential educational books, however, I would still prefer it to have a few fictional novels so the students can take a break from academics. The clubs are an amazing platform to showcase your talent and too add on to your CV. Regular meetings are held, and the clubs are always active. All the clubs are open too feedback and making it more fruitfulto the members.
Admission
The main reason for choosing Christ was its reputation and brand name. Christ University is one of the top universities in India. The faculty reviews, pass-out rate, the quality of education, and the overall university experience make one choose it. Though there are other colleges that offer the dual major of psychology and economics, their packages seemed too expensive in my opinion. Some charged 1.5 lakh and some 3 lakh. Chrsit offered a suitable package with an acceptable fee structure and curriculum. They also offer better student exchange programs in my opinion.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is pretty decent in all of my courses. The faculty is approachable and friendly. They are all open to inculcate better ways to provide better results. Almost all the teachers are open to guiding you for internship and research. The course of psychology and economics is still very new in India but the curriculum is planned in a very structured manner. I think the batch of 2024 has gotten a more defined and structured curriculum than the batch of 2022 and 2023.
Night Life
The cafeteria is affordable with good food options. There are various Jain and vegetarian options too. I'm not very sure about the hostel timings or the gym timings since I did not opt for it, nor do I have any friends who have opted for it. The area is not very great and accessible. It is unsafe at night for sure, there have been robberies, catcalling, and also rowdy acts. The location could've been in a much more urban area because there are locals who are hostile to the students here.
