Course Curriculum Overview

According to the research field and stay in academia my whole course developed a great practical laboratory expertise on students. So someone who's passionate about biological studies and further in research it's a great course to know everything about the body and opportunity to become a half doctor.

Fees and Financial Aid

1.Detailed fees structure per year is divided into two semesters(under CBCS): Around 8 thousands/year 2.We don't have any special margin in fees accommodation but some of the students belong to EWC they got their tution fee which's aroung 1000 free. Although including all the lab fees-869,college fest tickets(included)-197 for everyone 3.All the students who has a valid family income certificate not more than 2 lpa (government employees are not eligible) and secure 60% each semester, after completion of the whole year( without any backlog) can get a 18k scholarship by state government VMCMS. Also if someone secure yearly 90% or 9 sgpa they can avail national scholarship of 1 lakh( if their subjects are mention as per my subject physiology is not mentioned but statistics like subjects are)

Campus Life

Our annual college fest held around end of march when all semester were done, it's called UTSAV by Serampore College. Also with one year gap we had ACADEMIC EXHIBITION of models made by students of all the departments (Science Arts Commerce Hospital/Hotel/Tourism) in held around middle of march. Our library is age old around 206 years, there's various age old book especially in literature and also The Economic Times and other economics journal or science journal were there and great camputer system for online study. We had projector classes using laptops. They make study easy for subjects we had like biochemistry structures or 3D diagrams of bodily structures too. College had many tournaments and others annual sports activity but I don't have much knowledge about that, for not participating. There are huge students community both current and previous student run. They do many welfare and tree planting work called NCC too.

Admission

I chose my college for my traveling as it's one station away from my house and also my elder sister also studied chemistry major from here, I knew the culture of the college, it's familier for me to study here. Not like that I got rejection for microbiology but I applied for physiology only here, I got enlisted for admission in many other colleges in Kolkata including Bethune in botany but I didn't want to spend my whole time in travelling for college so I didn't join. Okay so eligibility was for 55% in the subject you wished to major(mine biology) and 50% to others two minor subject (for me it's chemistry and physics)for applying. And to get admission it's about selection and people got admitted ratio. If seats keep emptying the college drives several call on.

Faculty

My faculty mostly was truly insightful persons. Great at their own fields either research or thesis publishing. They worked too hard to make our practical skills top notch to be future ready. One or two were ridiculous but most are great. According to our CBCS system our 3 years course were divided in 6 semester. Through the first year(1st+2nd Semester) we had two CC papers for each sem and one GE(in my course it's Zoology & Chemistry) and one AECC paper(mostly English and ENVS). In second year(3rd+4th Sem)we had 3 CC papers each sem anda one SEC paper(I had Hematology and Xenobiotics)and one GE paper(odd sem Zoology & even sem chemistry). And in third year(5th+6th sem) we had 2 CC papers and 2 DSE papers each sem. Also all the CC papers and DSE papers included practicals too. Marking scheme was CC,DSE,GE theory papers were of 50 marks(CC&DSE=5×2marks+ 2×5 marks +3×10marks)(GE-Chemistry=20×1Marks+15×2marks)(GE-Zoology=5×10marks) AECC were on OMR form of MCQ. And all the practicals were in 30 marks. SEC paper was of 80 marks( 10×2 marks+ 4×5marks+4×10marks)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum in this college is uoto date, very relevant and with at par with the real world scenario, we learn about disorders, different schools of psychology and a lot more. There is a perfect balance of practical and theory, which is needed in psychology. In terms of improvement, there is always room for it, as of now there arent any suggestions from my side. The frequency of exams are fine, they give us time to prepare however I feel like as, according to the NEP, the semesters should be 6 months long but here they are cutting it short.
