Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course as I wanted to pursue CFA. This course has CFA integrated with it so I thought it would be the best fit for me. The course focuses on finance and investment and will help students pursue careers in finance like investment banking. They have got teachers from outside to teach us cfa. These teachers have been below average to average and improvements can be made here as CFA is a professional course and is not to be taken lightly

Internships Opportunities

4

I don't have exact details but lot of companies come offering internships. Big companies also offer jobs directly to internees who do very good. There is a specific period in our 3rd year where doing internship is compulsory and the college will help students securing internships.

Placement Experience

4

Students can sit for placement at start of 3rd year. Most finance companies come for placement. Some big companies come offering internships and if selected ones do well at the company they will be offered a job directly. The average placement for BCom is around 8 lakhs per annum. The highest placement this year was taken by a BCom student and he got offered a 25 lakhs per annum package. 99% of students who sit for placements gets places

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fees yearly is 140000 for Karnataka students. It is 160000 for students coming from outside Karnataka. My course BCom (hons.) finance and investment has compulsory CFA coaching for the first 2 semesters and this coaching fees is 15000 rupees per semester. Admission fees was 5000. Sports quota is there for national level players. NRI students tuition fees is much higher but I am not sure of the amount.

Campus Life

5

There are events and fests going on year round over here. There are clubs related to everyone's interests. Campus life is very vibrant and there is a lot going on. Libraries are huge and one of them is 4 floors. Facilities and infrastructure is very good and modern. Sports and extracurricular activities here is a big thing and is taken seriously. Sports facilities are very good and University teams are very active. Inter class tournaments are also held. All clubs in campus are fully student run and teachers are only there as advisors

Admission

I applied to st Joseph's college of commerce and got into the BCom (analytics) course in the 1st round that happened in February. My first choice was Christ and 2nd was sjcc. Since I got into Sjcc early on I didn't apply anywhere else. When I got into Christ I chose this course over sjcc as I'm interested in pursuing a career in finance and wanted to do my cfa. There was no course along these interests in sjcc. Also the Christ campus is much much better and I wanted to live the full college life. For admission into Christ there is an entrance exam and an interview. The hard part is the micro presentation part in the interview where the interviewers will give a topic on anything and we have to speak about it for 1-2 mins with 30 seconds preparation time.

Faculty

4

There are 65 students in my class and 1-2 teachers per subject. The faculty are very approachable and will assist you in any help you need. I liked our course coordinator Anusha ma'am. Even though she's a bit strict, her teaching methods are very good and she cares a lot about the students of BCom finance and investment and works hard to help improve the course and students. There are 2 main exams per semester, the mid sem exam and end sem exam. There will also be CIA (class internal assignment) before and after mid sem exam which also holds weightage in cgpa. The exams are hard and few students do fail these exams. They will have backlogs and will have to repeat the exam another time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rat 8/10 as the course was pretty good, I learnt eaverything in my B.com, whether its abut marketing, finance, sales , accounts. So basically it included everything a student needs in their graduation. I suggest that there should have been regular classes with encourages student teacher interaction.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the specific aspects of the cirriculum that influenced me to take my decision to choose these b.com course because I need to have my own identity and it is one of most common course among commerce background and i feel enjoying the study of my university . the cirriculum prepares the real inthe life while joining to extracirricular activities like adventure club, sports , quiz competiton etc. the college does not have any placements in the college they have to adapt these course cirriculum activities and few lectures teaching skill have to develop and improve the performance of students to pass in their subject. the very some lectures are irregular to the college and they won't take class at all . the frequency and timing of exam is perfect there is no p[rospective to me.

Remarks:

In our period it was prestigious to study commerce stream in our college and had good rating for the course and the for students who passed out from that college. The management had good lot of concern about the poorer section of the society and hence kept the fee structure at a very nominal level and thus help to get education for all
